50 Free Prints at CVS

Go to this website. On the right hand side, see where it says “Create an account.” Click that and create a CVS photo account. You’ll get 30 free prints for doing that. Then, if you add your Extra Care card number to that account, you’ll get an additional 20 prints! Yay for free!

One more reason to get an Extra Care Card if you don’t already have one.

The coupon showed up in my e-mail box within minutes.

end of month wrap up

July is almost over! Can you believe it? This summer is going by much too quickly.

Since the month is ending in 2 days, that means 2 things–the CVS monthly deals will be ending, and any coupons that you have that expire 7/31 also will be ending. The last week of every month, I like to review the CVS monthly booklet one last time, as well as I go thru my coupon binder and pulll out all the coupons that are about to expire. I never throw them out though, until they have officially expired. Too many times, in my eagerness to be organized, I’ve tossed coupons thinking I won’t use them and then missed out on a freebie deal that required those coupons. Also, military moms overseas can use a coupon for 6 months past it’s expiration date and there are resources available for you to do random acts of kindness and send them to our military families. One place you want to check out is the Military section on hotcouponworld.

Quick overview of CVS July deals

The CVS brand pantiliners, 22 ct, are $0.99 with $0.99 back in ECBs, limit 2
The CVS brand tampons, 5 ct, and $1.49 with $1.49 back in ECBs, limit 2.
The Sure deodorant is buy 2, get $3 ECB. There was a bogo coupon out for this a few weeks ago, so you would buy 2 for $2.79, get $3 back. Limit 5.
The Essence of Beauty handsoaps are buy 3, get $5 back. They had some clearanced at both Landenberg and Jennersville for $2.50, so you’d spend $7.50, get $5 back.
The Glade items are giving $1 back and there were coupons out for them 2 weeks ago.
Some Pledge items are giving $1 back, there are bogo coupons out there for this and some it is clearanced and giving the ECBs back.

That’s all I really see for July, as far as freebies, moneymakers or almost break even. There are several dozen offers in the booklet, found at the front of the store.

Coupons expiring 7/31
All of the Proctor & Gamble coupons that came out earlier this month will expire. The values on these coupons vary from region to region. Here are some of the ones I got:
Satin Care: $1 off any, use for the $0.99 size found at most stores.
Charmin: $1 off any, use for the $0.99 travel packs found at Target & Walmart
Olay: Varying amounts from $1 to $3. Use for clearance items at Walgreen’s.
Crest: $1 off any, use at Walgreen’s this week to get some very cheap toothpaste, less than $0.50 after store coupon and mfr coupon.
Pampers: $1 off any, I won’t be using these, $1.50 ones were out this past weekend.

Other than these, I don’t see any others that I can use by month’s end. But that can change and I will post the deals as I find them.

CVS-week of July 27

When I say I get something FREE at CVS, keep in mind that I am paying for that item with ECBs that I have already earned from a previous purchase. I have been rolling the same ECBs over and over for a long time. So you might not have ECBs, I get that. At some point if you want to do this, you will have to make a small monetary investment. But keep them rolling and that money will pay off more than tenfold, I promise! So go to CVS and get yourself a shopper card and get started, this is a good week to do it.

Bandaids: The bandaids are $2.99 with $2 ECBs back, and in today’s paper there’s a $1 off coupon. So I paid for mine with the $1 coupon, and $1.99 in ECBs, and got $2 ECBs back. Bonus, imo: There are LOTS of varieties of bandaids to choose from, much more so than usual. Limit 1 per card.

Candy: Candy is buy $10 worth, get $5 ECB back. There are very few coupons out there to go with this deal, unfortunately, so it will most likely be a $5 loss of ECBs. I like candy so I’m getting some. It is well marked with signs in the Landenberg store and there is a ton to choose from. If you have the will power, save it for Halloween. Limit *5* deals per card.

Revlon: Remember last Sunday when I told you to hang on to your Revlon coupon? There are select Revlon items for $9.99 with $9.99 back. So use the $2 coupon, pay $7.99 for the item, either in cash or ECBs, and get $9.99 back. This is what couponers call a ‘moneymaker.’ You will gain more ECBs than what you’ve invested in the item. The Revlon was not well-marked at the Landenberg store, so grab the weekly circular to make sure you’re getting the correct item. Limit 1 per card.

Photo DVD: This is an item I’m excited about. You can make a photo DVD, like a photo slide show with music, for $9.99 and get $9.99 back in ECBs. Limit *3* per card. Not all stores have the special kiosk and I forgot to ask this morning at Landenberg. I have asked at Kennett and Jennersville and both have the machine. Each DVD holds up to 60 photos and you can choose different themes and different music. What a great idea for an xmas gift or Grandparents’ day! ETA: I took out the information regarding the $5 coupon, it is not to be used with sale items. See the CVS Photo Technicians for more details on this and technical support. The photo books were pretty easy to make, I expect these will be as well.
*NOTE* Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT pay for all 3 of your DVDs at once, or you will end up with an ECB for $29.97. If you want to play this rolling game, it can be very tough to spend $29.97 all at once at CVS. Pay for them separately so that you get three separate ECBs for $9.99 each. This same holds true for any deal.
If you have the Revlon coupon, I would buy that first, since for $8 you’ll get 9.99 back. Then use the 9.99 ECB to pay for first dvd, which will generate another, and just roll it.

Happy Shopping!

Article on Grocery Outlets

With food and gas prices the way they are, everyone has their advice on how to trim your food bill. I don’t know if you saw today’s Inquirer, but the front page of the local section has an article on BB’s outlet in Quarryville. I’ve never been there but have heard about it from coworkers as I work pretty close to Quarryville. One shopper in the article is quoted as saying “People who shop here are sensible and wise.” I respectfully disagree and here’s why.

BB’s is a grocery outlet that sells groceries with damaged packaging and expired dates. You do not have to sacrifice quality to save money. Here are some examples.

The first item they highlight is Barbie Bandaids that are in a stained box for $1.25, down from $2.99. I will be getting my free Bandaids this week at CVS. The box will be brand new and not stained. I also have gotten free Bandaids at Target and boxes for $0.50 at Walmart, again, all brand new and not stained. I will detail these deals as I come across them in the future. I will detail the CVS deal that starts today in another post sometime today. These same bandaids are also on sale this week at Walgreen’s, buy one get one, at $2.99. So $1.50 a box–only a quarter more, the box is clean and new and you don’t have to drive to Quarryville.

Next they talk about an 8-oz bottle of Kraft dressing for $0.50 down from $1.69. I just looked in my pantry and I have about 6 bottles (16 oz size, so twice as big) of Kraft dressing that I got at Acme for on average, $0.75 a bottle. And guess what? Unlike BB’s, my bottles are brand new, not stained or wet as the bottles are described in the article.

Another shopper brags of getting dented cans of tomatoes, 24 cans for $3. I regularly get almost free tomatoes at Walmart and you can too. You just need to go to the website for Muir Glen tomatoes, print off your $1 coupon and take it to the Parkesburg Walmart where the tomatoes are $1.22 a can. Yours will then be $0.22 a can, and guess what? The cans will be clean, not dented, not expired………..and organic!

This same shopper brags about her expired crackers. Yum. I have a better idea. Go online and join the Kashi community, which will then enable you to print your $2 coupons. Quite often Acme and Giant both sell these crackers for $2.50 and they are usually regularly $2.50 at Walmart. I’d much prefer a brand new box of crackers for $0.50, thankyouverymuch. There also are other ways to get free Kashi products, including crackers.

Lastly the article talks about the bargains on expired medicines, expired cereal and expired mayonnaise. First, I will not shy away from taking expired otc medicine though I would never give it to my toddler. But as a consumer, I prefer not to purchase it already expired. If you could see my stockpile in the basement, you would see tons of every type of otc medicine you can imagine. And I got it all for free at CVS or paid about 10% of the original cost. I used either ECBs to pay for it, or purchased it on clearance and used coupons to make it even cheaper. And I have everything–pain relievers, cold medicines, stomach remedies, you name it. All name brand, all brand new in clean packaging with current dates.

As far as expired mayonnaise and cereal, well, that’s your decision. But again, I prefer to get mine free or almost free at the grocery store, and not expired. Just about all the cereal that Kevin & I eat is free, or no more than $0.50 a box. Dan is a bit more brand loyal when it comes to cereal, but I still won’t pay more than a $1 a box for what he likes. And I will share these deals with you as I find them.

I do not care to sacrifice quality to save money and would argue that there isn’t much savings if you’re giving something up. Couponing can be more work, but so is driving to Quarryville. And it can be tough if you don’t know where to look. But that’s what I’m here for-to tell you where to look and hopefully in the process you’ll develop an eye for finding bargains yourself.
