~Win a Looster Booster~plus discount code in post! Ends March 5

I was recently contacted by Looster Booster, to see if I wanted to do a review and giveaway. I looked at their site for about 15 seconds and then said YES!!!! This is a product that I actually had been looking for, but only in my head, ha. I hadn’t gotten around to searching for something like this online yet.

As you all know, I have two little boys, ages 2 and 5. Neither is potty trained yet (keep in mind the 5-year-old has special needs). We’ve been working on potty training with the older one for quite some time, with moderate but inconsistent success. One of his issues is poor core strength, and in fact, he uses a feeding/kitchen chair that has a foot rest, to help him stabilize himself. When you have poor core strength, it’s not good or helpful to just have your feet dangling–for him it was distracting.

What I like about the Looster Booster: It’s a nice height and it wraps all the way around the base of the toilet. It’s sturdy. All around, it’s just very helpful and useful and I am thrilled that we have one. I highly recommend it, and not just because they gave me one! I also love that it’s a Made in the USA company from a mom.

What others may dislike: It is somewhat therapeutic looking, so some may not care for the way it looks in your bathroom. And our bathroom is small, so we really have no place to store it; it has to stay in it’s place around the base of the toilet all the time. But have a child with special needs, I have therapeutic stuff all over my house, so that doesn’t really bother me. You’re talking to a mom that has a trampoline in her kitchen–for my family it’s always function over appearance.

What K (my 5 year old) doesn’t like: The top of it is textured, and for a kid with sensory issues, he does not like to rest his bare feet on it. But, the texture is there presumably for safety and to keep them from slipping when stepping up and down. And it’s a problem easily solved–I just take his socks off last at bath time, he sits on the potty sans all his clothing except socks, lol.

Now through March 5, use the code POTTY12 and get $7 off your Looster Booster. Here is their video if you’d like more information.

And……….here is how you can win one! Good luck!

  1. I don’t yet have a most embarrassing potty training story, but I will say that the worst was the day I tried the “leave her naked all day so she is more likely to use the potty when she has to go” and went to the kitchen for a moment to do some dishes and she came in and said “Mommy, come look.” and took my hand and led me to the living room, pointed at something on the carpet and said, proudly “I poop on the rug.” Sigh…

  2. Our potty training fail. we almost had our 18 month old grand-daughter completely trained. my daughter-in-law had her in Wal-mart and she had to go potty. she didn’t take her, for fear of it being unclean, and nowhere to change her. Needless to say, we had to start all over.

  3. Melanie Johnson says:

My son found potty training success at the water park. He knew he should not go #2 in the pool and got out to use the bathroom. Now I am looking forward to potty training my next lil one.

  4. My daughter really didn’t want to potty train, but we needed to work on it for preschool. So we started rewarding her when she was DRY (like every 15 minutes) instead of when she peed IN the potty. It was more of an incentive for her. Worked in a day!

  5. Courtney says:

I don’t have a success or failure story other than the fact that my 2.5 year old flat out refuses to go on the potty. I am really, really hoping to have him potty trained by his 3rd birthday!

  6. Renay Valiant says:

Consistency and readiness are keys… and if you can find an incentive that works for encouragement-that helps some;-)

  7. Jennifer says:

My daughter pretty much potty trained herself. We had tried before to potty train her before the new baby came. We were at Target shopping and she found a package of my little pony panties. she wanted these so bad. I told her that if we bought them for her, she could not potty in her panties because the ponies did not like to be pooped and peed on. that was all it took. i am hoping that my little guy is easy to train.

  8. Blake just was getting potty trained was shopping with John, said he had to go. John said ok started looking around for bathrooms, as he looks down at Blake he had his pants down in the store and was getting ready to pee on the floor!! Luckily he stopped him in time!
