One item that I’m pretty brand/product loyal to is Olay Cleansing Cloths. I really, really like them and thankfully last year I found an awesome deal at Kmart, so I’m set for the next year or so with them. But another thing I do to make them last longer is that when I open a new package, I cut each one in half before putting them in my bathroom. This automatically doubles my supply!
Recently I was talking with some other couponers, and one said that she cuts dryer sheets in half for the same reason. I had one of those “D’oh!” moments and now I do that too.
When I give my kids juice, I also cut that by more than half. Usually it’s about 1/3 juice and 2/3 water per cup. This is more for sugar/calories and training their young palates to not get used to sweets, but there is a secondary cost-cutting benefit.
Whenever I find deals on Bounty, I try to find the select-a-size rolls. Those are the ones with the smaller perforated sheets and I definitely find that those rolls last longer in the kitchen because the sheet you’re taking is smaller.
What else can we cut in half to save money?
Dryer sheets. I always tear those in half.
I also tear in half the Shout color sheets I use when I’m worried something will bleed. I totally love these sheets..as I haven’t had clothing item ruined by a color bleed since…but they are expensive and I want them to last as long as possible.
I buy the cheapy bounty Paper towels so so no select size for that kind.
Things like mac n cheese (from the box) use half the butter it asks for.
I also only wash my hair every other day…but I use conditioner every day. Depending on your hair type…(really oily hair it won’t work too well) it is actually healthier to wash your hair less..but because I have super curly tangly hair not conditioning it…is not possible.
