Walmart testing double coupons

*Hot* news from the web–Walmart testing double coupons in select areas. This will be HUGE if it goes national. I’ve read that they are doubling coupons up to $0.99 in face value, and double it up to $1. That means the $0.75/1s will be worth $1.00. For those of you near me, we already get true doubles at most of grocery stores–Acme, Superfresh and Genuardi’s, and Giant will do one like coupon per transaction. But if Walmart joins this game, it’s going to change the playing field, imo. For some reason, right now, they are only doing it on Tuesdays. Go figure.

Here is the list of areas participating:

Madison, Ohio

Charleston, West Virginia

Utah County, Utah ( 7 stores)

Huntington, West Virginia

Wayne, West Virginia

Findlay, Ohio

That would be great…Hopefully the one in Lexington, TN will follow..they are so confused with using coupons as it is, i can just hope that they follow…I though because this is not a franchise that ALL walmarts would have the same policy. i found out sunday that they don’t..very disappointed.

This would be fabulous. Living in a small town where Wal-Mart is the ONLY shopping option – a doubling coupon day would be very helpful and appreciated!

wish they were doing that at my store!

I use coupons for every shopping trip. I live in Alma,Ga. I mostly shop at the Waycross, Ga. Walmart. I would love to see double coupons there. Any chance this will happen? Thanks!

  7. I know In Utah the reason why it’s only on Tuesday is because the store they are competing with only doubles on Tuesday.

To double…you have to hand the coupon over as she is scanning the product and ask them to double the coupon. Each and every time for each and every product. Scan product, hand coupon ask to double. And by doubling, the cashier figures out the number in there head and price adjusts the product (so if the coupon is .50 cents, she price adjusts .50 cents off the price of the item)., and then scans the coupon as normal (thus doubling it) Lets hope that if they decide to do it nation wide that they just find a double coupon button on there register.

Also as far as I knew, Utah was not “bumping” so that may either be new, or not at Utah…but Utah has been doing it for months now.

I hope they start in Illinois!!!! It would make my life so much easier!

  9. Just be sure to check with your local walmart before assuming every one in the areas listed are participating… Even thought their website said for a long time that they accept printed internet coupons, several of them in our area will not accept them. I suggest getting the answer from a manager and saving their name for when you shop with your doubled coupons!! :)

  11. ashley flugga says:

i live in findlay and i plan on trying it out, wonder why they chose us? i mean we arent a tiny town but we arent big either

    • Not sure, maybe it’s easier to study & track at the smaller spots. And I bet a lot has to do with if you have grocery doubles. Around here, every grocer does true doubles up to $0.99 face value–and I’m not sure Walmart is ready to do that, kwim?

  12. My Walmart in Vienna, WV is also doubling coupons!
