Several months ago, I did a guest post about shopping in reverse. If you don’t do this practice, December 26 sales are great day to start.

Here’s all you have to do–

Tonight, after things have quieted down and you’re just sitting and relaxing, think about all the people you bought gifts for, and write all their names down, as well as the approximate value you want to spend on them. Keep that list with you whenever you shop and find great deals. Instead of thinking “Yeah, that’s a great price, but what would I do with it?” whip out your list! See if you have a spot for that item and you’ve already begun your shopping.

I love this concept for several reasons. Of course, it saves money to be able to buy a $10 gift for $2. But when the holiday season is here, I’m usually mostly done with all of my shopping and can relax and focus on family activities instead. I don’t have to stress about gifts for teachers and that sort of thing, because they are usually already purchased.
