The other day, I commented on another blogger’s Facebook wall (we’re online acquaintances) and he and his wife are expecting their first baby. He made reference to “date night after the baby is born.” I then joked about date nights being like unicorns–they don’t really exist. Because, let’s face it, they really don’t. Talk to any marriage counselor  or couples or sex therapist, and they’ll tell you about the importance of date nights. How we need couples time, away from kids and what not.

But how many of us are actually making the effort to do it?

Because arranging date night is a lot of work, isn’t it? Finding a date, finding a sitter, and then…….lordy, the pressure of finding the right restaurant or right activity to do. Because when you only get to go out as a couple once in a blue moon, the pressue is on to find a great thing to do to make the most of your time and money, right? And in the end, it just seems easier to stay home.
