I am very, very excited about this giveaway. I have partnered with Donors Choose and Savings.com to give your project $75 towards their goal. Each of those three parties (me, Savings, Donors Choose) are throwing $25 into the pot.
Have you ever used Donors Choose or checked out the site and how it works? It’s a very cool concept. Go to their projects page and you can either search or browse the various projects. There are several search options–zip code, cause, level of need and so on. When you are viewing projects, you’ll see that some projects have corporate matching options next to them–if you pledge to help that project, a corporation may be offering to match your donation.
So how do you win? Well, we need to get to the first step. For the next 48 hours only, now until 9 PM EST on Thursday night–you leave a comment on this blog, listing the link to your specific project on Donors Choose and why I should choose them. One entry per person please. I will look at the entries, and pick ten. Then, beginning Friday morning, I will post another blog entry where you can vote for your project. You can vote daily from January 27-February 4.
I will be choosing the ten projects based on need, poverty level, and well, to be honest–I do have a softspot for kids with special needs and projects in the Philadelphia area. That’s not to say if you don’t live near here that you shouldn’t try–because if I get less than ten entries, you’re automatically in for voting.
The voting will be done on Rafflecopter and I’ll explain the specifics in that post when it’s done.
Please note that all comments on this blog are moderated due to heavy spamming, so your comment may not immediately appear.
And I love the Savings.com community and am so proud to be one of their DealPros. It’s giveaways like this that really show their commitment to the community!
Please note–depending on number of entries, I may raise the number beyond 10. However, it will not be less than 10, unless we don’t receive 10 entries.
I LOVE this giveaway. Donors Choose is one of my favorite charities because I love how you get to see the specific need you are giving for!
Okay here’s the project I want to donate to:

I’m going to admit that this is a teacher I know and have supported in the past. She works in a school district where many of these kids don’t get the kind of opportunities that many take for granted. This teacher goes way above and beyond to provide her students and honestly I’m honored to support her and to nominate this project.
I teach 1st Grade in a Migrant community in the state of Washington. The majority of my students come from High Poverty families, and don’t get much time to work on a computer. Technology is so important in today’s educational setting. I am trying to get a Laptop so that my students can do Math and Reading activities to boost their test scores. It is my goal to help my students in any way that I can. Currently my students are ranked #1 out of 7 First Grade Classrooms in addition to 10 Facts in Five Minutes. I want to start pushing my kids beyond that, and a functional Laptop would be ideal.
Thanks for this very generous giveaway.
My students are from high poverty area of Pittsburgh who will benefit enormously from math learning centers. They will help with differentiated instruction and allow students to learn at their pace, in their own way. THANK-YOU!

http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=707357 After four years of teaching first grade, I was moved to third grade and LOVE it! I teach at a high poverty school, 78% of students are on free/reduced lunch. Out technology class was cut so the only exposure to technology these students have is in the classroom. This project is for an iPad, which will be used daily during centers. Thank you for considering my project!
Thank you so much for this awesome giveaway!
I’d love to nominate a Kindergarten teacher at my sons elementary school! This would help replace/improve her dramatic play area in her classroom! Dramatic play is extremely important at the kindergarten age! I would be so grateful for your help in voting for her project! Thanks!
Her project is here:

This is exciting! My second graders would love help getting two Kindle Fires for the classroom. They love technology. : ) Thanks for the publicizing Donors Choose.

I LOVE Donors Choose! Thank you for offering this oportunity. I am a general education teacher with licenses in special education and gifted education, so each year I get a wide range of students. I am currently requesting technology to bring learning alive for my class. Just imagine the differentiation I could do to reach every student at his/her independent level! Woorking in a high poverty area, many of my students will not have exposure to technology outside of the classroom. Choosing my project would help low income, special needs, high ability students and a dedicated teacher to motivate and inspire each one of my students to achieve the level of learning they deserve. Thank you!http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=704487
I would love to get my project on here. It is for my emerging and special education students. The project is for a computer that is touchscreen. I have so many students that can not use the mouse but would love to use the computer. Thanks!

This is a book project for a middle school Media Center and might not seem that exciting—but hold on! This project is asking for a collection of 15 Eyewitness books on topics ranging from Ancient China to the Human Body. These books are stuffed full of appealing photographs and illustrations and kids absolutely can’t resist picking them up. For students who are not strong readers, the pictures and captions provide a great resource for research. And finally, the Media Center in this high poverty school in an urban area has had a year of many changes. Along with sliced budgets, we have a new Media Coordinator who has done a phenomenal job of writing DonorsChoose projects to support the varied needs of readers in our school. This is a modest project with the potential for major impact. Please support it!
I would donate to this project. http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=661857&challengeid=208861 This teacher has never been funded. I love helping new to DonorsChoose teachers meet their goal. I am not sure if her entire class is Special Needs or if she just has some Special Needs students included. Either way, it looks like a great project.

Thank you so much for doing this giveaway!! As a teacher who serves those who are considered ‘at risk’, anything that can allow my students to explore the world around them and know that there is more to the world, other than what is in their neighborhood. My students are so inquisitive that I cannot wait to introduce them to the world around them through the use of an interactive projector. Although an expensive piece of equipment, I feel that it is important to give my students the best and allow them to experience all that the world has to offer. It is important for them to know that there is more to the world, and society then their neighborhood and hometown; ie: for many of my students a field trip to the state capital (a 30 minute drive) is an amazing adventure – because of the fact they don’t have the oppertunity to travel even a close distance.
Thank you for your consideration!!

Wow, what a fabulous giveaway! I am nominating my classroom for the giveaway! I nominated it and think it is worthy of donations because I quite frankly, need lots of help this year! I moved to Kindergarten this year and it is very difficult for my kiddos to visit the listening center since they have so much difficulty operating the cd player. The iPod Touch would be fabulous so they could match the book cover on the iPod to the book they will use. http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=689768&verify=-319267065&challengeid=33727
Thank you so much for kindness and whoever wins will be oh so thrilled I am sure!

‘It’s Time To Learn To Rhyme’
I would love for my kindergarten students to have these rhyming materials. We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd and I hope more of my students understand rhyming by then! :)
I am a first year teacher with my first Donors Choose project occurring now. I teach music to special needs students and we are in desperate need of new guitars. Learning to play the guitar is both a therapeutic and valuable life skill for my students. It allows them a creative outlet at which they can easily succeed while learning a skill they can carry with them outside of my classroom. Guitars can be purchased at a relatively cheap price and are usually readily available from friends and family so students can continue to play later in life. Thank you for this opportunity and for your support for education!

Imagine 32 students hooked on every word you say, soaking up economics concepts faster than a dry sponge. They sit with baited breathe and then the cords to the projector goes out leaving you with a blue screen. Help us slay the “Killer Cord Monsters” with a donation to help purchase a wireless network adapter!
With the addition of the network adapter, the wireless transformation of our classroom would be complete. Thus, allowing my students to freely and safely integrate various modes of technology without the cumbersome and vicious attack of the “Killer Cord Monsters”.
No longer will my students and I be held hostage by the “Killer Cord Monsters” in our quest to travel down the information superhighway. With our new found freedom, my students will be able to learn how to travel down the road of economic empowerment. We will be able to spend more time learning concepts rather than fighting cords. We will succeed in our fight to master the World of Economics!
I have received lots of funding from Donors Choose, so I do not wish to enter my own project, but one of my best friend’s instead. Here is the link to his. http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=705303&verify=931676086
He has received one earlier this year, but he deserves as many as he can get. He is a AMAZING teacher who cares deeply about the education of his students. He is constantly searching for ways to make his classroom better. This project is just one of many. I would LOVE to see his project win! Thank you for an amazing opportunity to help teachers!
This class is a great group of students and would love the support!

I teach 1st Grade in a Migrant Community in Washington, and would love to have $75 go to my classroom so that we could get a new Laptop for our class. My students work very hard, and have a great love for learning. The reason I’d like to get a Laptop is so that we can work on Math and Reading to improve our test scores. Currently my students are ranked #1 out of 7 1st Grade Classrooms at my school for doing the most additon facts to 10 in five minutes. I’d like to see continued growth, and I think a computer would be an great tool to use with my students.

Stability balls are making their way into classrooms around the world. Switzerland has used them for years, as they believe movement equals learning. Students who use the balls say they improved in their ability to pay attention, concentrate, take notes, engage and take exams.
Senioritis has taken a hold of my students! As a high school English teacher, trekking through the last semester school, I am faced with stubborn seniors, piled papers and mounting milestones. Who will save the day? YOU! …and stability balls. Help me keep my students focused and motivated. With the stability balls, my students will be reminded that English can be fun. They know they’ll be able to devour whatever college throws at them! They may even decide to bring a stability ball with them to college!
Schiling, Washington, Billingsley, and Deitz (2003) found in-seat behavior and legible word productivity increased after the use of stability balls for 12 weeks (p. 1). They found “substantial improvement in engagement and in-seat behavior” after three 3 weeks of using stability balls (p.1). Not only was behavior affected, but achievement in fluency, comprehension, addition facts, subtraction facts, and Saxon math probes improved.alls help students: Student behavior improves when using stability balls as chairs and most student average fluency rates and comprehension rates improve.
Stability balls are socially valid. A typical classroom has hard chairs with students listening to a lecture or taking notes, all while trying to sit still and be quiet. How are teachers to help students be successful who have a problem with one or more than one of these issues? Stability balls!
I teach kindergarten in an ELL kindergarten class in Michigan. I am coming down to the wire, just 42 more days, before my project expires. I am requesting a sand/water table and a variety of sand tools to use. I would love to give my students a chance to explore, measure, discuss and interact over the sand table.

I am a special education teacher in a small city in Wisconsin. I have a variety of ability levels in my classroom, which consists of grades K-5th. My project, Help Us Start Our New Year Right, is running out of time. We have $126 and 28 days left to go. Everyone of my students deserves the best I can give them and some of these basic supplies would go a long way to helping them have the tools they need. Thank you so much for doing this giveaway and your consideration.

Thank you for this wonderful giveaway! I’m a first grade teacher in a high poverty school in Pittsburgh. 97% of our students are on free or reduced lunches. My students are asked to work very hard every day and show great promise in the future. $75 would help us get closer to our goal of getting a laptop for our classroom. The laptop would be used to help make reading and math activities engaging and meaningful. Our school budget was recently effected by state budget cuts making classroom supplies and technology a low priority. Thank you for your consideration!
This is such a wonderful opportunity – thank you! I am a second grade teacher in CT. I have a project that is under review at DC and should be posted soon. My project is called “Mission: Master Mathematics” and it’s for books, games and manipulatives to be used during math. I would appreciate any help I could get with getting this project funded. Thank you so much.
