Philly Social Media Moms-Holiday Party recap

On Cyber Monday, my local blogging group, Philly Social Media Moms, had their holiday party. The event was held at Dave & Buster’s–and it was actually my first time at one! It was much nicer and a much classier event than what I had thought, really. I had heard it described as a “Chuckie cheese for grownups” which isn’t very appealing. It really is MUCH nicer than what I would equate with sticky, dirty play areas.  I wish it was closer to me–I would love to have a party there. Not only was it a fun Moms Night Out for me, I liked seeing the new products we were introduced to. What I really liked about them, is that they are not the boring, run of the mill toys that every store has. They are fun, but unusual–not every kid will have them. If you’ve been looking for something different, make sure you check them out.

On the night of the party, I had a “Hmph. Husbands!” moment because when I got home, my 2-year-old was still up. Since I wasn’t expecting this, he saw the bag I had. Needless to say, he’s been playing with his new train since then.

It’s this one, and it can be found at Big Jigs toys. I know my followers will tell you I’ve been talking about trains incessantly the past few weeks, because that is what they’re in to right now. I was very pleased to receive these pink train cars. They are the only wooden train set designed for girls. My boys don’t care, they like trains in any color. I’m glad that they are compatible with everything else they’ll be getting. Make sure you check out their entire selection of wooden train toys, they have a ton of cute things. They also sell a very cool wooden princess castle and a King Arthur’s castle.

Other items we got to check out were Little Miss Muffins dolls. Super cute! The only store carrying them this season is Toys R Us.

If your kids are too young for Angry Birds, but still seeing all the stuff every where, check out KooKoo Birds instead. They’re colorful and fun, and don’t have a video game attached to them–that’s what *I* like about them.

Other items we were introduced to: Horizon Dairy (have had this before, but always a favorite!), @villeroyandboch (very lovely things for your holiday table), Mabel’s Labels (I’m a Mabel’s Buzz Mama, so I love Mabel’s!), @ohanarama- a fun social networking site for parenting and families, @suavebeauty (dry shampoo, my latest MUST HAVE!) and @drinkBAIphilly which is made with stevia (I keep saying I’m going to do my own thing with stevia and I keep letting the stevia plants die. I’m better offer just buying this drink.)

Our party organizers and sponsors went to great lengths to find quality items–one of the many things I love about PSMM!
