CVS & Walgreen’s-Jan 11-17

There’s nothing interesting that I see at Walgreen’s this week, so I’m sitting it out.

CVS does have a few interesting deals. First, there are still the monthly deals which if you haven’t done, you can do those. Landenberg was still out of the throat coolers yesterday, I hope to get some of those before month’s end.

Febreze candles-FREE! Look for the holiday scents, apple cinnamon and pine something, I don’t remember, it was green. I think vanilla too. They had shelf tags that read $7.99 but when I took them over to the price scanner, it said ‘price with card $1.99.’ Use your $2 coupons from the recent P&G inserts and they’ll be free. I got 8 yesterday at the Landenberg store, have not checked other stores and don’t plan to because I have no more coupons left. There were still a few left at that store, if you go elsewhere, make sure you check the scanner first.

Makeup-While you’re at the scanner, make sure you stick your card under it and see if any coupons come out. I got $2 coupons for both Almay and Revlon, as well as a $2 off $10 cosmetic purchase. There is LOTS of makeup on clearance, so if you combine those store coupons with a mfr coupon, good chance of free. There are both Almay and Revlon coupons in today’s paper. It looks like most brands have at least some things on clearance, so if you have cabin fever, go wander the aisles with your binder and do matchups. I spent about 40 mins in there yesterday and ended up with over $100 worth of makeup for free, and there is still plenty left.

Other clearance–I saw diff varieties of Pantene shampoo, Infusium, shaving creams, razors–stuff in just about every aisle, on clearance. Take your coupon binder and go check it out, it’s a crappy weather day anyway. (speaking of, where is the snow I was promised?)

Holiday clearance–now at 75% off and still a decent selection.

Value packs-If you look at the shelves where the holiday used to be, there are various value packs of items. Each one has a red/yellow sticker on it telling you the price and how many ECBs you’ll get back. Cottonelle, Cheerios, granola bars, lots of stuff. There are corresponding mfr coupons for most of these items, but it will be hard to make it a free/break even deal. But still you’re not paying with actual money, so if you don’t mind burning some ECBs and you need the stuff, get it.

Soy Joy-multipack for $6, get $6 back. There are mfr coupons out there to make this a moneymaker. These things are horrible. I did this deal last year, and seriously, they’re like cardboard. I read where one mom fed them to the ducks with her toddler, that bad. I hate to even give them to the food pantry, but that’s what I did.

If you have ECBs built up from the big moneymaker holiday weeks, it’s a good time to let some go, you’ll get bang for your bucks.

  1. Lisa,
I went to Kmart in Newark today. I spoke with a manager and he said they are having the super doubles. He showed me the shelf tags. He said they are placed all around the store. No IP, no BOGO coupons etc. Probably the same rules as last time. I did not try to buy anything though because I did not time – I had to run to my sons hockey game at the pond. I will go back on Wednesday. Let me know if you go and how you do.
Thanks for all your help. Mary
75% off all Christmas stuff too.

  2. When you say Newark, what do you mean?

  3. Newark Delaware, by the University of Delaware. Not sure the road name but it is in the same shopping center as pathmark near the Library.
