Quaker deal at Superfresh (and other deals too)

And no, I don’t mean just a deal for card-carrying Quakers, ha ha. This is why I get excited about oatmeal deals. First, I’ve been eating Quaker Instant Oatmeal, Maple & Brown Sugar, for almost 40 years. I just love it. And my hubby and kids love it. If we eat it, on a chilly morning like today: I eat 2 packets, Hubby eats 4, 4year old eats 2, 1 year old eats 1. That’s 9 packets a day and there are only 10 packets in a box! If I paid full price for it, that’s almost $130/month, just for oatmeal.

So, I won’t pay more than $1 a box and anything less than that is my stock up price. This is the time to stock up on oatmeal as it doesn’t really go on sale much during spring/summer months.

The Superfresh/A&P chains have a buy $20 worth, get $5 back. Working on shelf prices. If you’re lucky enough to have a store that has $4.19 and up for shelf price, get five to hit the $20 threshhold. Then, it’s on sale for $2 per box, so without coupons, you’ll pay $10, get $5 back. Use the $5 certificate to complete any further transactions, and you’ll pay $5 cash out of pocket, get $5 back.

There aren’t too many coupons out there to go with this unfortunately. There was a $2 printable if you can find it. In boxes of oatmeal, if you have any in your pantry, there are $0.75 coupons in some boxes and they will double. And, there might be coupons out for other products in the Quaker family. All Quaker cereals are included such as Life, not just the oatmeal. But good luck, and $1 per box is a good deal for this even without coupons.

Here’s a LINK that may get you some printables, I’m having trouble loading it. But you can always check out my friend Heidi’s site at Printable Coupon Spot.

And when you’ve got all the cereal you need, look for the Swanson chicken broth deal. I plan on rolling my catalinas into that, it’s hard to find deals for it.  And make sure you pick up a 1/2 of butter for $0.99. Unfortunately limit is 1, but it sure is better than Acme’s sale price. The Earthbound organic salad is a good price, so are the chicken breasts and the steaks.

Definitely Superfresh for my weekly trip this week!

McCormick Grinder deal

Here’s a decent unadvertised deal:

McCormick Grinders is offering a catalina deal right now. Buy 2 get $1.50 on your next order, buy 3 get $3. It has been running at the national chains and I can confirm it is working at Acme. I bought 3-salt, pepper (the multi-colored peppercorns) and Italian seasoning. I only got $1.50, so not sure which variety is NOT working. I should have gotten $3.

But…at Avondale, there are $1 off 3 tearpads hanging in front of them. Buy 3 for $4.50, use the $1 coupon, so $3.50. Get $3 back, so $0.50 for 3! I am definitely going back for more this week, we use these a lot and they have long expiration dates.

If you don’t shop at Acme or Supervalu, check your stores. I know I saw it on HCW at both Kroger stores and Albertson’s.

Nestle/Purina/Gerber deals

Both Acme (10/29-11/11) and Genuardi’s (10/24-10/30) are running Nestle deals. Acme is a Supervalu store (Albertson’s, etc.) and Genuardi’s is owned by Safeway, so in most cases the deal will be running at all the stores, though maybe not on the same dates.

Acme’s deal is “Buy 10 listed items, save $5” or $0.50 per item. Genuardi’s is mostly a bogo sale. There are coupons in tomorrow’s paper to correspond with the sale. There are also lots of printable coupons for the various items, check the Nestle website or Printable Coupon Spot. There also used to be Willy Wonka printables on the Target website, not sure if they are still available.

The Nestle family of products includes: Stoffers, Lean Cuisine, Juicy Juice, Gerber, Purina pet products, Carnation, Edy’s and Haagen Dazs. Just glancing at the ads, I don’t see any freebies, but definitely some good deals if you use the items.

Acme this week

Sorry I’m late in posting but there are a few good deals at Acme this week.

First, General Mills promo–$10 back when you spend $25. Working on shelf prices. I was excited about the Green Giant frozen veggie boxes, we’re brand loyal to these. They are on knockdown for $1, so I bought 25 boxes for $25, get $10 back. Makes them $0.60 a box each which is a great price. I also had 8 of the $0.60/3 which doubled, so only paid 15.40, got 10 back–brings them down to about 10 cents per box! Going to make more room in freezer and go back. I mix the sauce-less corn, peas and green beans in to almost everything my kids eat. Some day they’ll eat some place else and realize not all spaghetti and mac & cheese comes with veggies mixed in.

If you have the GM coupons from last week, lots of great deals to be had. Very cheap stuff even if you don’t have any coupons. Most of the yogurts are shelf price 3.79, sale 2.00. So you pay $14, get $10 back, for 7 boxes of yogurt.

Lately lots of different Perdue things have been in the 19.99 deal. I always try to find something that we want, and then the biggest portion I can find, before it goes down to 4 for 19.99. I got an $8 Perdue chicken, then it got marked down to $5, then there are lots of $1 and $0.75 perdue coupons out. All the 19.99 items are specially marked in the meat dept and on the front page of the flyer.

Crest & Reach items-$1, use the $1 coupons from last week and 9/26=free!

Use the $2 Quaker printable on printablecouponspot, it’s on sale for 2.50. Look for blinkies for $1 off produce when you buy 2 Quaker oatmeals. I got 2=$5. Used two $2 printables=$1 for both boxes. Used the $1 blinkie for my produce, or think of it as getting the oatmeal for free and just purchasing produce you’d normally purchase anyway! Broccoli is on sale this week for $1, which is almost half the normal price (1.88) and something I get almost every week anyway.

Tropicana has a deal, get a free Trop 50 when you buy 2 Tropicana premiums. We’re brand loyal to this, so I got 2, got the free one, blueberry pomegranite. Hubby really likes it, says it would be much better with vodka.

Dove coupons in last week’s paper (I think) and there’s a 5/15 dove deal if you need the stuff. Works on shelf prices too.

Happy shopping! Still 3 whole days left to take advantage of sale. I went yesterday, got $243 worth of groceries for $104 and I have $15 in catalinas. Not bad!
