nice moneymaker at Target

I read about a nice moneymaker deal at Target. The Scrubbing Bubbles extended-something-cleaner is 8.69. If you buy one, there was a coupon in last week’s paper to get a $5 gift card when you do. Perhaps check the Target website and maybe there is a printable on there somewhere, I haven’t checked. Also, in the 4/11 inserts, if you still have them hanging around, there was a coupon for $5 off this item. So, you purchase it with the coupon, pay 3.69. Get a $5 gift card back. Lather, rinse, repeat until you run out of coupons. And it appears that you don’t have to do this in separate transactions–buy as many as you have coupons for, all at once.

Yes, I loathe Target and have had multiple horrible experiences there, particularly with coupons. But you may want to try it, and I’m always game to share a deal that costs Target money.

clearance time

Typically, January and February are huge clearance sale months. This year appears to be the same. I was in Peebles today (earlier post) and they are having great clearance deals. I also was in Kmart, CVS and Walgreen’s this week and all of those stores are having clearance deals. So if you have a bit of winter cabin fever, grab your coupons and head out to a store. Poke around the clearance items and see what coupon matchups you can do. Lots of great deals to be had. I got some Vicks throat spray this morning at Kmart (Pike Creek) that actually gave me 1.01 in overage.

As far as apparel, generally most apparel retailers follow the same time line. Stuff is clearanced right after xmas and up until Presidents’ day weekend. As the markdowns and sales get better, the selection gets worse. Timing is everything and you have to enjoy the hunt.

Happy shopping!

Products to shop for + a Peebles printable

There is a Peebles printable, 25% off any one item, at coupons.com. You can print two per computer. I’ve had great luck stacking sales and coupons there, so it may come in handy. Might be nice to stop in during January and treat yourself to a new item to beat the mid-winter blahs.

This is the time of year when manufacturers try to cash in on consumers making New Year’s resolutions. Look for deals on diet, nutrition, health, vitamins and wellness items. Today’s paper is loaded with coupons for all of this stuff. Also, look for these items, as well as cosmetics, to be clearanced. Makes for some great deals when you combine clearance with coupons, and many of the items are clearanced just for new packaging. Walgreen’s and CVS will also be running lots of Register Reward deals and ECB deals on these items in January, if they repeat what they have done in past years.

Back to School is starting!

Just like the stores start putting out Christmas stuff earlier and earlier every year………the same is now happening with Back to School deals. This week Walmart is highlighting three items for $0.30. If memory serves, these items were only a nickel or a dime last year, I guess we can blame the economy. I think retailers that used to put out loss leaders-great deals to get you in to the store-are at least trying to recover the cost of the item. I think there will be fewer freebies this BTS season, and those that are free/very cheap will have limits. Still good deals.

CVS this week has a few items-pencils, tape, sharpeners–that are free after ECBs. Good way to roll those ECBs over if you need to.
