Awesome safety item + discount code-Road ID

I found this great product online, from a company called Road ID. I actually first heard of them last summer when we were watching the tour de France and saw the commercial, then I made a mental note of the site. The products they make are actually designed for cyclists. Say, you’re a cyclist, you’re out on a ride and you crash and are unconscious. Cyclists normally carry very little with them, so you have no ID. What if you’re diabetic, or hypoglycemic, or allergic to antibiotics, or have hemophilia, or….and so on and so on, right? You need to be able to be identified and helped when you cannot speak!

So, my mind drifted over to my older son, who is special needs and cannot talk. I ordered a blue one for him. It has all of our information on it, plus his name, the fact that he is non-verbal, and another key thing people would need to know if they found him. Mind you, I’m terribly protective over him when we’re in public, but you just never know. Nobody who ever loses a child out in public plans to lose a child out in public, right?

With priority shipping, my total came to about $20. I think that’s a fantastic deal. It looks sporty, it doesn’t have anything glaringly obnoxious about it, like a medic-alert bracelet, know what I mean? Unless you look at it closely, you would never know that he’s not just a kid wearing a sporty arm band, like kids do. I just dragged my feet in ordering it because, well, I don’t have a very good reason. But with summer here, we have parks and other outings planned so I wanted to make sure he has it.

After I ordered, they sent me a discount code to share with friends, so that’s what I’m doing. Use the coupon code: ThanksLisa5710755 and it will take $1 off your item. I know, $1 isn’t a huge deal, but these aren’t hugely expensive items. And, if you need it, you need it, and if it’s something you’re going to buy anyway, might as well save a buck. This code is good until 6/21/11, please leave me a comment here or on facebook if you have trouble with it and I promise you I will contact them.

Even better, when you order, you’ll see as part of the ordering process that you get a drop-down bar to choose a charity to donate some of the proceeds to. Look at that great assortment of products! And no, this is not a sponsored post, I promise! I really am just that happy with it.

  1. Thanks for posting this I am seriously considering getting two of them. I get very paranoid almost to the point that i can’t enjoy myself when we go to places like Sesame and it’s really crowded. It would be good for both boys to wear when we go to crowded public places.
