You’re Invited: Carnival of the Animals with The Philadelphia Orchestra

I am so bummed that I have to miss this event this Saturday. I spent an entire afternoon trying to figure out a way to get there, but I just can’t. I have to take my family to the Philly airport, my hubby has class (and a car) and we’ve tried six ways to Sunday how we could do it, but we can’t.

But you can!

What is Carnival of the Animals?

Carnival of the Animals is a fun, interactive musical program presented by The Philadelphia Orchestra at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall. The concert features twin piano duo Christina and Michelle Naughton (recent Curtis graduates who are just 24 years of age). You can read more about this dazzling duo here: http://www.cami.com/?webid=2128

My little guys just love music and we just got a bunch of new instruments for Christmas, I know they would just love this.

THE FUN BEGINS AT 10 AM

At The Philadelphia Orchestra, they are passionate about educating children and nurturing their love of classical music – from little tots to tweens and everyone in between. That’s why before each and every Family Concert, they host a pre-concert adventure. This musical zoo begins with a pre-concert adventure at 10 AM (although seating is continuous so arrival is encourages any time before 11 AM)—an interactive program led by Mary Javian (an active performing and teaching artist) with plenty of activities and creative play. This hour-long session is a terrific introduction to some of the music and instruments children can expect to hear, and there may even be a few surprise guests!
