Valentine’s Day:Wine Deal

I don’t know about you (or where you live) but where I live we have to go to a whole separate store to buy our wine.  One nice thing about living in Vermont was that you could go to the grocery store and buy your wine right there. No matter where you shop, if  you are having a quiet night in or a candlelight dinner for two, save yourself some time and order a bottle (or two) of wine this year!

If you order from the Tasting Room, click  HERE to get 20% off. Don’t wait too long because this offer expires 1/31/12. I like their sampler packages. Buy a few cheeses, grapes, and bread to go along with it.  I want to try their “Wines Heart Chocolate” sampler, which includes a dark milk chocolate bar to pair with 3 different wines, which are presented to you in (6) 50 ml bottles. Add a few candles and you can even have an intimate dinner for two after the kids go to bed.  Who says you have to go all crazy with a sitter and reservations to have a great Valentine’s night? I know some of our Valentine’s Days were spent at home, especially when we lived in Vermont with no one we knew to watch the kids for us.

Wines Heart Chocolate ... A Gourmet Pairing

Robert Mondavi rebate

I swear! I am not at the liquor store all.the.time. But today I stopped, and some of the Robert Mondavi bottles had hang tags on them. The hang tags are for rebates–$2 off one bottle, $ off two, $6 off three. Through 12/31/11. This was at a PLCB store, and the big 1.5L bottles of some varieties are around $12. Decent deal to keep stuff around for the holidays. I can’t speak about all of his wines, but most of what I’ve had from Robert Mondavi, I’ve liked.

You know I love a wine deal!

I’m always game for cheap wine–and I mean price, not flavor/variety, ha ha. Here’s a deal I found from Virgin Wines (yes, the same airline/phone people).

A case of wine (12 bottles) is $69.99 plus $19.99 shipping. That’s actually a good price for shipping wine, we’ve shipped it before and it’s expensive! So roughly $90 for a case of wine shipped, or $7.50 a bottle. And……you get a free electric corkscrew with it. It all comes with a satisfaction guarantee. You can pick reds, whites or mixed. I think I’m going to try this. I mean, for me to either have some time without the kids, or I have to drag the kids to the liquor store (which I don’t always feel right about anyway), then they never have shopping carts for them, or they won’t sit in them, I’m always very afraid that they’re going to knock over a big display or something, ugh. This is so much easier. A case will last us a really long time and I won’t have to drive or be hassled with going to the store. If I get a variety I don’t like, I can get my money back or just give future bottles as gifts.

Nice bonus with the corkscrew too. My dad makes fun of me because I don’t know how to work a regular corkscrew. Maybe I’ll give this one to him, so he can see why I don’t do it manually.
