They have absolutely nothing in common but yet they do. They all happen at the end of January or beginning of February. Really, the big bang after the letdown of New Year being over.
This year I am uncommonly excited about the SuperBowl. Our family has finally reached a niche of having one team to cheer on, well, except my 8 year old straggler who is an Eagles fan, and it just makes it so much more exciting that OUR team is in the Super Bowl, so GO GIANTS!! My favorite part of the Super Bowl is really the food. I usually go all out on snacks and desserts for Super Bowl Sunday but this year we are going to my brother’s. Kind of nice to only make one thing. I will share the cookies and cream cupcake recipe with you tomorrow if they pass my taste test.
As for taxes, most years we hire someone to do our taxes. I am trying to convince myself that I really can do my own. It would be quite a bit cheaper! I checked out two programs and did a trial run through on them. Last year I tried TurboTax and thought it made it so much easier. This year I tried another program and thought it wasn’t quite as easy but still was so much easier than making heads or tails out of paper filing. If you file by the old paper method, I highly recommend signing up with TurboTax and filing your federal tax for FREE. It makes it so much easier. Then you can decide if you want to file your state taxes for a fee through Turbo Tax or stick with a different method. Either way, what do you have to lose? Pretty much the only thing is “a whole lotta stress”. Even if you decide not to file with the program(like me), it is really nice going to into it having a good idea of what you are going to owe/get back.
Finally, do you watch Survivor? I have been watching since Season 3 and can’t believe they are on Season 24 already??!! This is one thing I love about Super Bowl. too. I know that Survivor’s new season is starting. I can’t wait to see what happens with the new dynamics of both tribes living in the same area. Will they work together or split up the island?
If you are quick enough filing your taxes and get money back, you could always use some of that money to have a huge Super Bowl or Survivor Premiere party. Using our money saving tips and sales matchups you can do it without it taking a huge bite out of the budget.
Now go have fun cheering on your favorite team!
