My trip to Giant this morning

I was going to go to Giant this morning, to look for more BBQ sauce. Then when I read that it wasn’t working anymore, I sort of abandoned the idea. I realized I had to go out anyway–I needed stamps, to go to the mac machine to get cash for babysitter tonight, to pick up my inserts from the newsstand…..and then our power went out. So I figured might as well stop in & get what I need.

8 Dentyne gums-$0.59 each, had $1 coupons, so $0.41 overage for each
4 Danimals-$2 each, I had four $1 coupons
4 Sorrento Cheese snacks-$4.34 each; I had two $3 off 2 coupons, plus two $5 rebates
10 Dannon cups of yogurt-$4, I had a $1 off 10 cups coupon
3 Thomas English muffins-$3, I had two $1 off coupons

After coupons & my $12.50 that I got in catalinas yesterday, I paid $5.58 out of pocket. But then I came home & mailed off $10 worth of rebates for the string cheese, so I made out well.

Welcome York area readers & shoppers!

Thanks so much to my sorority sister from college posting this on the York site. In addition to that posting which has driven traffic here, I know my friend Barbara and her friends read too. Besides Giant, let me know what other stores you have and I’ll keep my eyes peeled for deals!

Budweiser BBQ sauce catalina

Hubby is making chimichurri for dinner tonight w/skirt steak, needed a few ingredients. “I’ll go!” I yelled, half out the door with my coupon binder.

Headed to the Kennett Giant……..only to find………all the Budweiser BBQ sauce gone! I found a shelf clearer! But it’s not someone from this blog, as I had just posted it. Ok, no biggie.

Headed to West Grove Giant. Five bottles left. Picked up the produce items I needed, paid $5.98, got $12.50 back in catalinas! Woo hoo, it works, definitely works.

I didn’t buy 7 to get the gas deal, but that’s low priority for me. If I can make $1.50-$2 per bottle, definitely going to stop in a few times this week. Will keep a few then probably donate the rest to the food pantry or wait until next food drive at hubby’s work.
Yes, I shelf clear. You’ll hear lots of different opinions about this on the various coupon sites. I see no problem with it. Not my responsibility to make sure there is enough product there for the next customer behind me. If a store isn’t adequately stocked for a sale, be mad at them, not the shelf-clearer. You wouldn’t think twice about taking the last two boxes of cereal you’re paying full price for, why should taking the last two BBQ sauce that are free be any different. Sure I was disappointed that one store was out, but that’s just a part of it. Sometimes you get the great deals, sometimes you miss out. There will always be other deals.

I have the $1/2 coupons for this product, so I’m paying $0.50 for each bottle, getting $2.50 back.

This deal is also working at Weis, but I do not know what the price is.

Trying to get back into Giant

I used to be pretty loyal to Giant. Then our new Acme went up and Acme changed it’s coupon policy. Giant was still only doubling coupons up to $0.50, and only one like coupon at a time. Now they’ve changed theirs to match Acme, plus added a gas station at the Kennett location, so they definitely deserve a second chance. And, I know I have a lot of readers from the York/Lancaster area, and I know you don’t have Acme, but you do have Giant.

The go-to deal this week, for the supercouponers, is the Budweiser BBQ sauce. There is a $0.55/1 coupon in the June 13 inserts. The sauce is $1. So free BBQ sauce. Wait–it gets better. For each one you purchase, you’ll get a $2.50 on your next order catalina (oyno cat). And even better, buy 7, get the cats, and get an extra $0.20 off your gas. Just for grins, I would buy one, go through self checkout, make sure you get the catalina, before purchasing more. The Solo cups are also a part of that same gas deal, and there are $1/1 solo coupons out, came out a few weeks ago. Again, only a good deal if you need them.

I’m also excited about the Danimals, which my kids love. $2 each, there are $1 coupons that came out a week or two ago.

Thomas English Muffins are $1, I have $1 coupons that I got on the package. Look for specially marked packages. These freeze well.

Dannon yogurt is 10 for 5, or $0.50 each. $1 off 10 coupons came out within the past few weeks, knocking it down to $0.40 each. I refuse to pay more than $0.50 a cup for yogurt. This crap with stores charging $1 or $1.10 is ridiculous, especially since the cups are down to 5 or 6 oz each.
