What are you doing Sunday evening?

Maybe you want to hit Big Lots, for their friends and family sale. Coupon here. Get 20% off your entire purchase. It’s only valid on Sunday evening, and no, they don’t take manufacturers’ coupons, so no stacking. But for those who don’t coupon, you’ll find some cheap things.

Things I like to get at Big Lots–
gardening things, like planter boxes and stuff like that
holiday items, decorative dish towels
generic greeting cards to have on hand
they often have decent organic items
toys for xmas and birthday gifts

For those of us that coupon and do either the CVS Extra Bucks, or Walgreen’s Register Rewards, we wouldn’t be interested–but for those of you who can’t be bothered with that, you might be interested in:
school supplies
health & beauty items
baby items, including diapers, and I’ve found GREAT deals on baby food there
cleaning supplies

I’m not going, I have a birthday party to attend, then a conference call for a Board of Directors I’m on. But I hope you all find great deals. I’d love to hear about them.

the Kellogg’s deal that just keeps going and going for me………

Back in the spring, there was this overlap day at Acme where two catalinas were printing out for 4 boxes of Kelloggs–a double dip. It was a decent moneymaker for me, and the boxes I did pay for, I only paid $0.25.

The deal was 4 boxes for $10, and two catalinas would come out–a $4 and a $3. So even the worst case scenario, without any coupons, was that you’d pay $0.75 box. But I had several $0.75/1s that are true doubles, and lots of $1/2s. You had to do the deal in increments of 4, and I got 52 boxes of cereal.

I’m not much of a rebate person, but I was on hcw and saw a few references to this Kellogg’s $10 rebate wyb 10 items. I searched long & hard and posted several times on the hcw trade board and got nothing.

So I wrote an email to Kellogg’s, asking them if perhaps they could send me the rebates. They wrote back and said NO, but that they would send me a $10 voucher good for any Kellogg’s products. Ok, good. Better than nothing, right?

I did one last try on a trade and scored 4 rebates.

Then, this morning, while rearranging my stockpile, I noticed something on the Mini Wheats Little Bites. They have codes, and you enter 6 codes and get one free movie pass to ANY Disney or Pixar film. I have 12 of these specially marked boxes.

So, right now, my count is—

52 boxes of cereal

$10 voucher for Kellogg’s

$40 in rebate money

two movie passes

All for free!

And I thought that all the free cereal was great–I was so excited because for a change it was the bigger boxes of cereal instead of the smaller ones. But this deal just keeps going and going…..wonder what will turn up next?

Concord Pet sale this Saturday

Concord Pet used to have these fabulous Midnight Madness sales twice a year. It was 30% off the entire store and the place would be mobbed. It was great if you needed a big-ticket pet item like a bed or a crate.  I need a crate, and I knew the sale should be coming up in July, so I called.

They are having a sale this Saturday, but unfortunately they no longer do the 30% off the entire store. This Saturday it will be 20% off all food, and all treats and toys will be Buy 2 get 1 free.  Not a bad deal on the food, since most people are brand loyal to dog food, and it’s hard to find deals on pet food. There are various coupons out for dog food, I don’t know if they’ll allow you to stack a coupon on top of the 20% off, they should, as they will get reimbursed for the coupon. And any bags you buy at the 20% sale will NOT count towards their usual “Buy 10 Get1 Free” incentive.

this week at Acme

Overall, I think this week at Acme is pretty blah. Glad I don’t need anything. There is a Procter & Gamble deal, spend $30, get a free $15 Itunes card. In some cases it does seem to be overlapping with another deal, where you’ll also get a $5 catalina coupon good towards your next trip.

Remember, these deals work off of shelf prices, not sale prices. So use the shelf price to calculate your total to get to $30, then pay the sale price minus any coupons of course. The exception is items on “knockdown.” It is the knockdown price, not the shelf price, that will go towards your total.

I will be going in for the Kelloggs deal. They have select items, some cereals, some cookies, and what I’m after–the Nutri Grain bars, on sale for $1.50 each when you buy 8. We go through tons of these, my kids love them. There are coupons out to go with this–in today’s paper there’s a $0.75 off 1 Nutri Grain coupon, which means it will double to make the items free. If you don’t have those, look at the boxes of Kelloggs in your pantry, some are specially marked with a “$5 in savings” and they have coupons inside. They are $1 off two Nutri Grain coupons, so it reduces the price to $1 per box. That’s definitely a stockpile price for me, since these are usually $4.99 per box.

Happy couponing & good luck putting your P&G transactions together–let me know how they turn out.
