Locals, mark your calendars!

February 26, 9:30 am-at the Bayard Taylor Library in Kennett Square–appearing……….yours truly…me!

Yes, we finalized a date today on holding what will hopefully be the first of many couponing/frugal living sessions. I will post more details as I finalize everything, but during this first session I plan to cover two main things. The first portion will be coupon resources–how to read a coupon and where to find coupons. (I know this might seem basic, but some folks don’t realize the many, many options besides the Sunday paper.)

The bulk of the hour will be spent going over coupon policies for Acme, Giant and Superfresh, and learning how you can stack deals to maximize your savings.

Hope to see some of you there and I’ll post info on how to register once I get it.

Oh, and it’s FREE!

tearpads & peelies make my Acme trip better!

I was doing our weekly trip this morning, and since I already receive half of my Sunday paper today, I knew that there are no Kellogg’s coupons to be had. In other words, no point in waiting for my Sunday inserts (which I get on Mondays) to try to score some freebies. I just wanted milk, lunchmeat, produce and few other odds & ends.

Here’s what I found, and this is at the Avondale Acme, your store may vary.

Back by the milk there is an Oreo display with a tearpad on it. “Save $1 on ANY Nabisco cookies when you buy a gallon of milk.” Well, as it turns out, I had 3 gallons of milk in my cart. Over in the cookie aisle, the little containers of Nabisco cookies are $1.29, or now, $0.29 with the coupon.

In today’s (tomorrow’s) paper, there is a $1.50 off 3 Snyder’s flavored pretzels coupon. I love those stinkin things, but at upwards of $3.50 for a small bag, don’t buy them often. Ok, on sale for $2.50 per bag. With this coupon, down to $2 a bag when you buy 3, I was going to splurge. Then, in the cereal aisle–Crispix is a part of the Kellogg’s deal ($1.50 each when you buy 6). Crispix also happens to be one of my hubby’s favorite cereals and we don’t have any in the stockpile. Got 4 of those plus two other items to hit the 6. The Crispix boxes have peelies on them–“Save $1.50 on any pretzels when you buy 2 crispix.” Pulled 2 of the peelies off the boxes because I had 4 boxes–stuck the other 2 peelies in my binder.

So now that looks like this (keep in mind that Crispix is something I’d want to buy anyway–

3 pretzels=$7.50

Minus the two $1.50 peelies, $3
Minus the $1.50 coupon from today’s paper.

Brings the total down for my pretzels to $3, or $1 per bag. Seeing as I think these are usually 3.69/bag regular price, this is  a great deal!

Also lots of outdated meat with $2 and $3 peelies on it. Now I have to go make meatballs!

Uggs (& other good deals on shoes.com)

Ok, if running shoes aren’t your thing, maybe Uggs are. Shoes.com currently has many Uggs on sale for 30% off list price. Then use code 25SALE to get another 25% off and they have free shipping.  And, enter the site through ebates and get an 8% refund on your purchase. Good deal!

Don’t miss their other shoes, some are already 65% off, like these Lego shoes:

I think I’m going to get a pair of these for the little guy. Happy Shopping!

Hey Runners!

Today’s groupon deal is half off at Philadelphia Runner. They now have a location in Glen Mills, at the shopping center where Genuardi’s used to be.

(Is that how we’re going to refer to that shopping center now?)
