Get ready for Cyber Monday!

Tomorrow is Cyber Monday. For shoppers, it is the online version of Black Friday. Several years ago, when it was more likely that a person would have internet access only at work and not at home, Cyber Monday was born. People spent the weekend shopping at malls, then on Monday when they returned to work they scoured the internet for items they were unable to find. Retailers noticed a big spike in traffic and sales on their websites that day and subsequently have capitalized on that. Now, of course everyone has internet access at home and at work, but the tradition has begun.

A few things to keep in mind when shopping online:

Ebates! Sign up for ebates for all of your online shopping. First, you’ll get a percentage back in the form of a check, mailed to you. Just remember to enter the shopping website via the ebates link, and make sure you’re signed in first. Ebates has partnered with all of the big sites except for amazon, so I’m sure you’ll find what you need. But also, for safety/fraud reasons. Ebates has relationships with these retailers, so they are much less likely to be fraudulent. Just like retailers have capitalized on Cyber Monday, so have online criminals.

Second, look for codes online for additional discounts and codes. I frequently use retailmenot.com and have had a decent amount of success with it. You can also do internet searches and come up with codes too.

Happy shopping!

Concord Pet Midnight Madness!

Yay! It’s back, it’s back, it’s back! I saw an ad for Midnight Madness, next Sunday. 30% off your entire purchase, food is limited to two SKUs. I see several ways around this-take your spouse or a friend and you can both get two. Or, since lots of the Concord Pets are close together, visit more than one. I plan on getting two different kinds of food, or four bags, at two different stores.  If you haven’t already, like Greenies on Facebook and print the $10 coupon. That should turn out to be a great deal with the 30% and the $10 coupon. Look through your old inserts and google your favorite companies online for coupons. As a rule Concord Pet always takes my mfr coupons and hopefully Sunday will be no different.

I have three giant dogs to feed, so I’m excited about saving all this money on dog food!

Small Business Saturday

It’s Small Business Saturday, so consider going out and supporting your local small business, whether it be a store or restaurant. Your local community needs it–small businesses are really struggling right now!

my shopping strategy paid off!

I’m pretty excited. I chose to go to Staples at 8 am. They had the 2-hour HD Flip for $99. If I had waited until tomorrow to use my 10% off coupon, it would have been $129. The $99 price was for today only. And no lines, no waiting–and to think I was considering going to Walmart! The Flip at Walmart is only the 1-hour recorder for $99, mine is the 2-hour recorder for the same price. And, I’ll get 15% back in Staples rewards, which I usually end up using on printer ink.

Had some extra time so I popped in to Peebles. I had looked at the Discovery aquarium thing, Kohl’s had it for $9 and I thought “No way I’m fighting those crowds for one $9 item.” Well, Peebles had it for $10. So just an extra dollar, and no lines, no crowds. Kevin liked the one we got him last year that he literally wore it out, so I’m happy to replace it. Plus, I got the jellyfish one for $10 too, so Brian will have one as well.

Now….I am officially done xmas shopping! Oh, except ordering photo gifts for family. Which I’m paying for with Pampers points. But other than that, totally done! Yay!
