Acme Matchups: Feb 4-10 (dud week!)

Overall a very boring week, I don’t see any great freebies or deals.

Insert with 8 Store Coupons for P&G products-should be able to stack store coupons with the mfr coupons from last Sunday.
Products include Tide, Bounty, Charmin, Pampers, Aussie, Herbal Essence, Fusion, Prilosec, Duracell
I don’t see anything being even close to free, but good discounts if you need/use the items

Get a $20 GC to redenvelope.com wyb any $10 worth of Haagen Dazs. I don’t see any coupons to go with this, except home mailers, but if it works off of shelf prices, could be a good deal. Redenvelope has really cute stuff, especially Mom-type gifts, and Mothers’ Day isn’t that far away. But, you cannot stack GCs if you get more than one. That’s not to say we can’t possibly stack it with ebates and other codes.

A big dud of a week, nothing great at all. Glad I don’t need much. When my boys go down for a nap, I’ll take a look at Superfresh ad, hopefully it’s better than this!

new Target printables

The new Target printables are up. Included is a mfr coupon for $0.75 off one Huggies wipes, so you can use it anywhere. Made sure I got my two prints of that one! Unfortunately, the Target printables are now set up in such a way that until you print it, you don’t know if you’re printing a store coupon or a mfr coupon. But I did print some–and the bogo Kellogg’s, Kraft parm cheese, Velveeta and other Kraft coupons are all store coupons. That means you can stack them with mfr coupons. The bogo Kellogg’s should turn out to be a good deal, because there are $1/1s for that, plus stack it with the bogo for cheap cereal.

The Huggies coupon does not have any size restrictions, but it does say Do Not Double. Keep your eyes open for $1 packs of wipes at Target, Walmart & Dollar General.

I’m getting like, ‘like’ burnout

I love facebook, really I do. But I’m getting burnout from ‘liking’ everything, particularly contests. I love to follow some businesses, especially those that put deals and coupons into their feed. But I’m growing weary of the “hey go like us then come back at 4:00 and you and 3 billion other people can try to win one of 50 free crappy t-shirts.”

I mean, it’s one thing if the thing is a definite–either I’m going to get a sample of something or get to print a coupon. But when there are hundreds of millions of people on Facebook, to try to win one of 10,000 t-shirts or boxes of hair color, just feels like a waste of time, no?

So for the time being anyway, I’m only going to alert you of the definites–the definite free sample or trial, the definite printable coupon. Even those are in limited quantity, so you usually have to take advantage of it as soon as you see it. But don’t count on me for the contests, even if the freebie is a good one. I guess I’m just not of the gambling nature, I don’t enjoy the thrill of possibly winning it. I think I need to make smarter use of my time, there are lots of *definite* good deals to be had, I think it’s smarter spending to be banking on those.

Home Sweet Home! New features-look inside!

I just got off the phone with a ‘web designer.’ That sounds so high-falootin, doesn’t it? But it’s true, I have a real webpage design company working on a new look and new features for Lisa’s Bargain Alert. (Pssst-it’s going to have a new name too, but more about that later.)

One of the new features I’m extremely excited about is more information about your home and real estate. And I am happy to welcome Hilary to the team. You can read more about Hilary on our About Us page. When the new site is launched, hopefully within a few weeks, we will have a Home Sweet Home section with all sorts of interesting and informative advice on housing. We also hope to include an “Ask Hilary” section where you can post questions to her. Her personal web page can be found here. Until all of these features are up and running, her columns will run as regular blog posts. Your home is most likely the largest purchase you will make in your lifetime, let’s make sure you’re spending smart.
