Get a best friend for Half Price!

Now that’s a bargain. In case you were unaware, Pennsylvania has a huge puppy mill problem. As a result, new, stricter laws were passed and went into effect 1/1. As a result, many of these “commercial breeders” (read: puppy mills) find themselves unable to comply and have turned in their dogs to the Lancaster Humane League. Lancaster county is home to over 10% of the state’s puppy mills.

For the month of January, they have reduced their adoption fees by half price. Due to so many turn-ins, they currently are housing over 350 dogs and are turning people away who want to turn in animals. Their website doesn’t give very many photos or bios of the animals, as the staff is just too busy actually caring for animals to be updating the website. But you can be sure they have all shapes, sizes & colors of dogs. Lots of purebreds too, since many are from the commercial breeders.

Visit their website for hours & location.

Leggo My Eggo

Here’s a deal I almost missed–

At Acme, Eggos are bogo. The ad states save up to 3.59, but I’m pretty sure they’re 3.99 at my Acme. I have lots of the $0.75 off one coupons, which of course will double to $1.50. Assuming that they let me use 2 coupons for each pair that I buy, and usually Acme will let you use 2 coupons on a bogo, I’ll pay anywhere from $0.59-$0.99 for 2 boxes of Eggos. That’s a stock up price for me!

Acme-January 9-15

Looks like a slow week, but that’s ok after last week. A few things jump out at me.

Ocean Spray-Buy 2 Ruby Red juices, get a free 5lb bag of grapefruit with coupon found in center of ad. Some papers are supposed to have an Ocean Spray coupon to go along with this deal, my Philly Inqy does not. Perhaps on Monday when I pick up my other inserts (from other area papers) it will be in there. Otherwise it’s $4 for two 64 oz bottles of juice and a 5lb bag of grapefruit. Not bad, but another dollar or more off is always nice too.

Dannon yogurt-on sale for 10 for $4. There are mfr coupons out for $1 off 10, so now you’re down to $3. Lately, this yogurt has been showing up on my Avenu for $0.50 off 2, limit 4, so that would be another dollar off. $2 for 10 yogurts, or $0.20 each–I think that’s great. Let’s hope it keeps showing up on your Avenu and that it has long exp dates.

Tastykakes are $2.50, not great but they haven’t been on sale for a while.

Conagra deal-page 3 of the ad lists a Conagra deal, another buy $xx get $x. I know that there are corresponding mfr coupons for just about all of the items listed, but I have not heard if shelf prices are working or not.

Quaker-there’s a Quaker deal but it includes a rebate. Five oatmeals for $12, then get a MIR for $5, making it five for $7. Use this IP for $1 off one, should let you print at least two. Plus there are $1.35 off 2 coupons out there, so you should be able to get your actual cost pretty far down.
Not in the mood for MIRs? Go to wags today while it’s still on sale for $1.99 and get yours for $0.99.

If, for some reason you need GM cereals, there’s a deal buy 4 for $10, get a free $4.50 catalina good for milk. Lots of GM coupons out there plus printables.

Progresso soups are 10 for 10 and there are IPs for $1.10 off two, so you pay $0.90 for 2.

All bacon is bogo and I find that it freezes well, so if previously your favorite brand hasn’t been on sale, now’s the time.

Kellogg’s has a deal, four boxes for $7, must buy 4. Lots of Kellogg’s coupons out there plus IPs. You should be able to get your total down to four for $3 or $4. Not a bad deal if you’re sick of GM cereal.

SC Johnson-Buy 5 of the products listed and get an add’l dollar off. Lots of coupons to go with this. It has also been reported that the Ziploc holiday food containers are clearanced. They are pretty cheap after coupons, I have not been able to confirm if they work with this deal. Who cares what color container your leftovers are in, right?

Ok, maybe not such a slow week after all. Doesn’t look like I’ll be able to walk out with $122 worth of stuff for $6, but if you need the basics and have cats to spend, there are still good deals to be had.

Superdoubles at Kmart……….they’re back! Jan 11-17

I was looking at hotcouponworld and see that the real superdoubles (up to $2) are coming back, Jan 11-17. Unfortunately, only to select locations. If you go to the Kmart website, and put in your zip code, it will bring up the stores closest to you. Then you can view the weekly ad and see if your store is doing it. Pike Creek is not. The next closest one I could find that is doing it is Thorndale. Too far for me, and I’ve never been there so not even exactly sure where it is.

But if your store is doing it, keep an eye on the Kmart board on hcw, and maybe you’ll see a deal that makes it worthwhile.

If you are not eligible for the superdoubles, though after Acme not like any of us needs General Mills cereal, there is a deal. Buy 5 boxes for $10, get a $5 Kmart gift card. If you have enough coupons, you could probably get your total down to $5, get your cereal and your gift card. Then if you have enough coupons, go roll the gift card to pay for more cereal and get another gift card. Lather, rinse, repeat until you are out of coupons. When I was at the Lantana Square Acme, at the courtesy desk they have a 2-fold brochure of GM coupons–most are $1 or $1.10 value, so they’ll work well with this deal. I did not see this brochure at Avondale or check Pike Creek.
