Sunday coupon preview + reverse matchups

For those of you that are new, I try to do reverse matchups for all the inserts. What are reverse matchups? Well, it evolved out of people saying to me “I dunno, I don’t get it, when I look at the Sunday coupons, I don’t see anything I want.” Reverse matchups are what I see when I see an insert, because I can flip through one and pretty much instantly know if I’m going to use that coupon or not, and where.

For a complete list of what is coming this Sunday, click here. As always, this is not a complete list, and assortments and value amounts vary by region.

Superfresh ad, April 15-21, highlights & matchups

Looking at both ads, overall it looks like SF has the better prices for what I need for my weekly trip. Neither SF nor Acme has any must-do deals or freebies, and I just need weekly perishables. The only problem is that I have three milk catalinas and another $7-$8 for Acme, not sure if I can use them at SF. Like Acme, there aren’t a whole lot of coupon matchups for the stuff that interests me.

Post cereals-1.79, no minimum or limit listed.

Their Coke products are 4 for $9.99, a few bucks cheaper than at Acme.

Lay’s stuff-3 for 6, coupons from 3/13–hopefully you got the $0.55 one that will double.

Butter-1.99, cheaper than Acme. No limit listed, so at this price, I’ll probably get 3-5 of them and freeze it. Butter is getting super expensive and I don’t like to cook with margarine. Even better, if you buy three Pillsbury refrig items, at 3 for $5, you get the butter for $0.99. The database is showing lots of coupons for these items, dating back to 2/13, 2/27 and 3/13.

Polly-O mozz & ricotta-1lb for $1.89! Awesome price. Blinkies listed in database, so keep an eye out. Would be awesome if you found the $1 off ones.

Barilla pasta is $0.88 and that’s one of our favorite brands. I was introduced to it many moons ago when I lived in Italy, and soon it came here.

Philly Cream Cheese-0.99, same as Acme. Freezes ok to use in recipes, but not to eat regular.

Maxwell house-2 for 5

Dannon is 10 for 6, $1 coupons from 4/10.

J&J baby deal-spend $10, get $3 back. Should work off of shelf prices. Printables. Printable. Printable. And if memory serves, I did this deal last summer, and the shelf price is $5.49 or something. Buy two to hit $10 spending threshold, sale price will be $6. Use two of the $0.75 or $1 links I gave you, and you’ll pay $3-$4, get $3 back.

Don’t forget to check Zavers to increase your savings, and seniors, shop on Tuesday to save another 5%.

Acme ad, April 15-21, highlights & matchups

Overall a pretty slow week, which is to be expected around a holiday. Stores will generally sell you some holiday related items cheap to get you in the door, but other than that, nothing great. I’ve done database searches on most of these items, and there are NOT a lot of matchups out there.

First, a $5 instant savings offer wyb any 10 participating items. Prices shown are AFTER the $0.50 per item savings.

Coke products, 4 for 12, must buy 4

Cracker barrel bricks, 2.50

Acme butter-2.50 (cheaper at SF this week)

As always, don’t forget to check your e-savings before you go.

Staying organized & deciding which deals to get

Sometimes people ask me “jeez, you post so many deals, how do you keep it all organized?” First, I don’t do every promo that I post. But if I only posted what I get, it would have such a narrow focus, not much of a blog following.

But here’s how I do it-

I keep a notepad and pen on my desk, where my computer is. Then, as I look at ads & do posts, or find deals on hcw, I jot them down. But only if they interest me. On Mondays, when I get my inserts, I look through them and see what my assortment is as far as matching it up to deals. Then I just decide from there how important it is to me to get that item and try to fit it into my schedule. For example, both Acme and Superfresh have some pretty good deals this week, but I chose Acme for my weekly trip. The deals at Superfresh, while good deals, just not “must-do” or anything, so I probably won’t get there. I put an asterisk or circle or underline it if it’s a super-duper freebie of an item I really need or moneymaker.

Especially for beginners, you can’t do every deal. I seriously see women posting about going to eight different stores and running all over town for stuff. You’ll make yourself nuts with that. Slow & steady wins the race. Remember to start with a prioritized list of items you want to stockpile, and take it from there. It’s much easier to incorporate this into your everyday thinking & shopping if you don’t let it consume you.

I’m also working on a creating a shopping list document to post here as a resource, to help everyone (including myself!) stay organized.
