{getting back into couponing} Day 1~cleaning out the binder and organizing

I don’t know about you, but I really fell off the coupon bandwagon the last quarter of the year. I was doing ok, and then I don’t know what happened. Looking back at my holiday expenses, I definitely need to get back into it. Our holiday spending wasn’t totally out of control or anything, but I know I could have done better on the food spending at least.

extreme couponing, bandwagon

So what I’m going to do is a baby step program. Little steps, day by day, until I’m back into a decent, manageable routine.

This is what I’m doing today–just cleaning out my coupon files. That’s it, pretty easy. Just cleaning out all expireds since today is a great day to do it. If I have anything that may need attention–a mail in rebate to be done, some Pampers points or Huggies Rewards to be entered, just putting those in a little pile in my desk drawer.

My coupon file is pretty new and in good condition, just needs to be dusted off-literally!

I’m also going through my desk-the printable coupons that I printed but never cut, the piles of inserts that never got clipped. Looking at what is expired and what isn’t. Tossing what is expired, putting aside what isn’t.

That’s it, that’s all I’m doing today. More tomorrow.

Proctor & Gamble deal coming….

Buy $20, get $5 oyno. Also, there appears to be a bonus–save an add’l $3 wyb $20 worth of participating P&G products.

As has happened in the past, it should be working on shelf prices. Unfortunately, if you have any current P&G coupons, they expire 4/30, but we’re getting new ones this weekend. So stay tuned for more info……

Having trouble with IPs?

Here is a letter from the Smartsource website. You may want to print it and keep it in your coupon binder in case your IPs are ever refused.

Good-Bye to an old friend

And that old friend is the Walgreen’s monthly Easy Saver Rebate catalog. The most recent issue (April) expired on Saturday and Walgreen’s is no longer publishing it.

I will miss you…………

I was never a huge fan of the monthly rebates, though I did them occasionally. I *loved* the IVC (instant value coupons) that were in them that could be combined with mfr coupons. My most recent haul was the free Garnier hair stuff.

I also will miss the double-dip days. All time favorite of course was last July……when we could double dip on those diaper coupons for two days……and it included an RR deal too. For every 4 packs of diapers I got, Walgreen’s paid me $0.96 net. Sigh……..that was a really fun two days, I cleaned off every shelf in southern Chester county and Hockessin.

But it was not meant to be, as Walgreen’s has discontinued the booklet (probably due in part to couponers like myself clearing the shelves and not paying a penny). This week shows a lot of promise with the RR deals they are offering, let’s just hope it continues.
