Savings Challenge: Stockpile Meals

My next 30 days are going  to be spent trying to “eat away” our stockpile. We will hopefully be moving soon and even though it completely goes against my “think ahead” personality, I want to get our stockpile down and start fresh when we move. It’s a bit scary for me but at the same time, a great challenge.

Want  to try a menu plan that involves eating from your stockpile for a week and seeing how little you an spend in groceries? We can start  a “stockpile meals” challenge on Sunday. Reply  to this post if you are interested.  Let’s see how little money we can put out on next week’s groceries!!

This week isn’t necessarily a healthy example for us because we have had to throw together quite a few meals but here is what our stockpile meals looked like so far this week –

Monday -curried couscous and steamed broccoli

Tuesday -pizza and chips

Wednesday -pasta with sauce and cheese

Thursday –  ramen noodle veggie stirfry

We have eaten homemade granola most breakfasts. We have had smoothies and lots of veggies for lunch.

I am using up vegetables I purchased last Wednesday plus a 2# bag of baby carrots that cost $2.78 and the rest is stockpile food. Yesterday I did get the kids ice cream and me a kids meal from chick fila but that was with a gift card.

I also bought 1 gallon milk, 1 pt. cream, 1 pt. half and half, 1 pt. fresh yogurt,  2 cucumbers, and 2 dozen eggs. I spent $15.30 on groceries this week. Next week I have a dairy review to do so I will be able to save with FREE milk. I will have to buy more veggies and fruits though because I am not willing to sacrifice healthy eating to save even more.
