I received a complimentary copy of Rock and Learn: Letter Sounds DVD to review. It couldn’t have been better timing. We are a homeschooling family and I have been frustrated with my first grader’s inability to say some of his letters properly. I don’t have someone else to teach him. It’s ME and my husband. It has been an ongoing battle, and while we have made progress, it has been a struggle and some sounds just weren’t clicking. I had seriously been to the point of checking into getting a speech therapist but just couldn’t find a spot in our budget. Because he says them wrong, our 4 year old picked up his habits and says them wrong PLUS a few other letters. No big deal at her age I guess because she will eventually get it. However, I thought he would too and he just hasn’t. Let me say though that this is good for any preschooler/early school age child. You don’t need to homeschool to get a good value out of the product.
The kids have listened to/watched this DVD 4 times now over the last 2 weeks. My son(6) isn’t saying the sounds perfectly yet but the DVD is a perfect range for him. Not only do they go through the alphabet and show him how to form the letter with his mouth, they also have letter sound quizzes, name that letter, sounding out and reading words, spelling, common sight words, and blends. These are things he is learning! It is perfect for both of us because it reinforces what his curriculum is teaching him without him feeling like he is “in school” and I don’t get as frustrated anymore.
My 4 year old has improved her sounds by at least 50% already. Her l’s and d’s have gotten so much better. Plus, she is learning the foundations of words, all while she plays with her “babies” and listens to it play. Who knows, maybe by kindergarten she will already know her sounds and be putting together words. That would be awesome!

I think I would just go with the Letter Sounds DVD also. I wonder if it would help my 5 year old distinguish between th- and f- sounds???
I don’t remember them having the ‘th’ sound however, to start out we taught him to stick out his tongue as he made the sound. We are still in the process of ingraining how to say it in his head without having to stick his tongue way out but it was a fairly easy concept for him to grasp. He had trouble because “he isn’t suppose to stick out his tongue” but we said this is the time where it’s ok.
I’d choose the Rock N Learn Letter Sounds DVD. I watched the clip on the Rock N Learn site, and it seems like just the thing for my 5 year old to work on his letter sounds!
I would choose reading words because they believe my grandson has AS and with that comes a very difficult time in reading. I think he may need all the help he can get. Thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome prize
I would choose phonics
I would choose the letter sounds DVD. J could definitely use help picking up some of her letters. (even though she is only 2 and does have some time:) ) Although I also like the looks of the sight words one so it would be a hard choice.
Colors, Shapes & Counting for P-K & K, but any of them would be good for my grandson.
the sight words dvd, my kindergartner is having a hard time with these.

I would choose the colors, shapes, and counting.
I would choose the dvd that teaches letters.
I would choose the Colors, Shapes and Counting DVD for my two year old son
I would go for the Rock and Learn: Letter Sounds DVD.
I would pick a CD. My daughter has a lot of learning dvd’s, and I like anything that helps her learn thats not in front of the tv.
I would pick the dvd. It would be a great addition to our homeschool library
