Welcome to Refresh Your Nest Friday–it’s a blog hop that I participate in, started by one of the Philly Social Media Moms. Each week, we do something to Refresh Our Nests.
This week, since it’s the weekend to turn back your clocks an hour, that’s the theme I’m going to go with–clocks and smoke detectors.
Clocks: As you turn back your clocks, spring clean (or fall clean) each one. That’s right, every single one. So if it’s in the microwave, clean out your microwave. The stove one–clean your stove. Wipe down your phone. Dust off your DVR or whatever else in your home has a clock. Reset the flashing ones. Put batteries in the ones that take batteries. Throw out the broken ones. Check wires to make sure they are still intact. I have one that really needs to be tossed–the cord is behind the bed and from the bed smashing it against the wall, the wires are exposed. I need to get one of those flat extension cord things too.
Smoke Detectors: Test them, make sure they work. Dust them off, change the batteries, regardless of whether you think it needs it or not. Check your Carbon Monoxide detector, or buy one and install it if you don’t have it. Check the various websites–Rayovac, Energizer and so on, and follow them on Facebook to get valuable coupons. If you don’t want to do that, buy generics–this is one product category where there really is no difference. Some fire companies and other civic organizations give smoke detectors and CO detectors away for free, during this time of year. Call your fire department or health department and ask.
