My visit to Acme-Lantana Square

I am totally addicted to this Acme deal. I went to Lantana Square this morning-it’s not far from my house, no sales tax, and the cashiers don’t know me there. Good news, bad news.

First transaction:
8 boxes of Cheerios–had to get 8 instead of 7, shelf price was 3.99.
After coupons, then card-paid $4.50 oop, got $15 back

#2:
3 packs of pampers, again! (Hey with one in diapers and one on the way, I never miss a diaper deal)
$30-$1 Q, that’s all I had left
$29 minus $25 in $5 cats, paid $4 oop.
Got back $15 + $5 again.

#3:
Bounty, Downy, 2 Cascades
Paid $3 oop after $5 cats, got $15 back

#4:
Bounty & Tide again
Paid $4 oop, got $15 back.

So the good news is that at least for me, in this area, the catalinas are rolling and shelf prices are working on aforementioned items.

Bad news: Lantana Square Acme has a piece of paper over the slot where you put coupons in self-checkout. A cashier/supervisor has to look over and approve (via keying in) all your coupons, including the $5 cats. I got a semi-grumpy older guy who was none too pleased with me. Mind you, he approved everything and didn’t say a word. At one point he said “Make sure you scan your Acme card first” which of course I didn’t do. I scanned it last. By the 4th transaction, I think he figured out I was rolling them, and as I was finishing up, he was on the phone with someone–maybe I’m paranoid, but I think he was talking about me. After all, it was 8 am Sunday morning, not many customers in the store. So I decided to call it a day and head to CVS & Wags. I still have $20 in $5 cats and a $5 baby cat left, I may stop tomorrow on my way home from work. Perhaps by then the Avondale Acme will have replenished their diaper supply. And my husband said “No more paper towels!” Ok, so I do have quite a few stacked up, probably at least 50 rolls (in multi-packs). But they are in the basement, not in our way, and in our household with 2 messy dogs and a toddler, we got through LOTS of paper towels.
