discounts on family activities

The Please Touch Museum is currently offering family memberships at $40 off. It’s now only $110 for a family of four to have unlimited access for one year. It’s $15 per person to get in, so it should pay for itself with two visits. My kids love it there, but, we’ve been doing very well with the discounts offered on groupon. But if you don’t want to take a chance on it being offered on groupon, this is a decent deal.

Also, Sesame Place is offering discounts for next year, and you’d get the rest of this year included. They are still open for limited things on weekends, like the musical shows and meals with characters. I don’t remember the specific pricing, but I’m sure it’s on their website.

And of course, don’t forget the zoo. A family annual pass is just $99 and that includes parking. For an additional $20 or $30, you can add two guest passes on to each visit. We did that, and honestly, we never used the extra passes. But maybe that just means my friends are slackers. We could just never connect and meet up there. We did get our money’s worth from the membership.

This year, I think we’re going to join PTM. Their too active these days for the zoo, would rather be out doing things. And I like that we can use it year-round. Of course the zoo is open year-round, but who wants to go in the winter?

  1. Before you buy your membership, you might want to consider buying your membership at Hands on House in Lancaster instead. It is $125 a year for a family of 4, but it is reciprocal to both Philly PTM and the Wilmington DCM. If you buy the PTM, it is NOT reciprocal to DCM and vice versa. Of course, you then don't get the free carousel tickets and parking, but I have found it pretty easy to find on street parking in Philly. My kids love to go to the DCM, it is close and we can just go for a little bit without the investment in time for PTM. -Shannon
