Donors Choose matching codes from Savings.com~ends February 24!

We are in the final days of the special matching code for Donors Choose from Savings.com. As most of you know, I ran a promo and giveaway and we (me, Donors Choose and Savings.com) gave one lucky winner $75 towards her Donors Choose project. Today I got a thank you note from her, and I wanted to share it with you:

Dear Lisa L,

I can’t begin to thank you enough for helping fund our project, Hoping For A Netbook. This Netbook will be such a great addition to our classroom. My students and I are so excited to receive this great piece of technology. Your thoughtfulness and generosity are sincerely appreciated. This is something we would never have been able to have done without you.
Again, thank you so much for your help in getting us the Netbook. You are the greatest and your dedication to education is admirable. With gratitude,
Ms. P

That just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside and I’m so glad that you helped. Together, all the Smart Spenders helped to fund a total of *8* projects! That’s really something to be proud of. I also know that the warm and fuzzies spread to other blogs and several projects were funded on those giveaways as well.

Use the code SAVINGS when you visit www.donorschoose.org/savings and Savings.com will match your donation up to $100!

Clearance finds at Kmart~Egyptian cotton bath sheets for $4.20!

I had some extra time yesterday in between commitments, so I popped into the Kmart on Paoli Pike. I like it much better than the Pike Creek one, though Pike Creek is 6% cheaper of course. (It’s in Delaware, no sales tax) I wanted to get my boys a little treat for Valentine’s Day, plus I wanted to see if they had any tops for me. I’m in a bit of a wardrobe crisis in that I have several things coming up where I have to look decent, and I have nothing to wear. No seriously, nothing. I haven’t had to dress professionally for several years….so add in two kids and some weight gain, and yeah, I got nothin’.

I had to use the restroom so that took me back to the toys. There’s a huge section of toy clearance, prices were ok. Just ok. If I had an immediate need, yeah I ‘d check it out. But my plan is to wait and see if it gets reduced further. I got the boys each a plush doll. K got Ernie, B got an Angry Bird. Not on sale, but only $6 each and perfect for what I wanted.

That took me past the home section, and this was my one big find–towels! BIG, Egyptian Cotton bath sheets…..down to $5.99 and then 30% off which brings them to $4.20. And….they had decent colors like off white, tan, chalky blue. Normal stuff that would probably match your bathroom. I got four periwinkle ones because we desperately need new towels, and then I reminded myself that I really was here to look at things for me. Not the boys or my house! I did wash the towels this morning and they washed up very nicely. Not a ton of lint like some towels. I HATE that, when you use a newer towel and you end up covered in lint.

Women’s fall and winter clearance is another 30% off boys pajamas, footie pajamas, blanket sleepersand there is still decent size and color selection left. My favorite find, even though it’s not really professional, is this black hoodie that is lined with white sherpa fleece. I have it on right now and it’s so cozy and comfy, and it was $9.99 with 30% off. Then I ended up getting five more tops–all sweaters. Each was priced $9.99 to $14.99, with another 30% off. All are solid colors, some are crew neck, some tneck. One ribbed, two cable knit. Nice, neutral colors that will go with the plethora of khaki pants that I have, and hopefully buy me some time to find other clothing deals to update my wardrobe. I hope they wash well, I think they will.

The kids pajamas that I saw a few weeks ago were still there, still at $2.49. Definitely not as many sizes left, so go get them if you want them.

Definitely worth a stop into Kmart if you’re near one!
