Diaper Deal-Amazon & Parents Magazine

This deal has been floating around lots of places on the internet and I debated on whether or not to share it. One is that it was very confusing to me at first, and two, it’s a very specific deal–you have to have a copy of Parents magazine. But then, just at random I shared it with a friend and she said “Hey, I have that magazine laying around!” so what the heck. Here goes:

First, you do have to have Parents magazine. If you have August AND September, even better. But you need at least one. I took three from my pediatrician’s office yesterday; they had about ten copies laying there. That’s what prompted me to pursue this deal more.

If you go to amazon, check out their diaper section. Some of the big boxes of diapers are eligible for a deal when you sign up for auto-ship. If you sign up for auto-ship, you’ll get 30% off the price of the diapers. ***Remember to UNSUBSCRIBE when you get your order!!! Or you will get more diapers at full price.

Ok, sign up for the auto-ship and get 30% off. Go to checkout. Then you can enter codes for more savings. The September Parents code is for 20% and free shipping. You can then stack the August code on top of that for more savings, plus any gift cards or gift codes you may have.

I ended up with a box of Size 4, 176 count Pampers–shipped to my home for $9.

You cannot stack two September codes, I tried. Also, if you calculate your total, enter all your codes and then want to go back & add more diapers, it wouldn’t take the % off the boxes I added on. Once I saw that I’d be getting the diapers at that price, I wanted to add two or three more boxes, but it didn’t discount them. Boo. You can always remove items at the end if you want, but not add and get the discount. Make sense?

Those codes are very specific and a one-time-use. Once you use it, that’s it. And if you have the magazine but not kids in diapers, I’ve seen moms paying as much as $2 paypal per code–maybe you want to sell yours, ha ha.

Check your pediatrician’s office, library, etc. for copies of Parents magazine. It’s a colored card in the middle–like the subscription cards that are in magazines.

Locals-Val Pak & Clipper coupons

Wait! It’s not always strictly junk mail! At least glance through it before you toss it.

There are a few coupons in these packets/magazines that I’ll use. In the Clipper magazine, there’s a whole page of Concord Pet coupons. I always look for these, seeing as I have three 100-lb dogs to feed. Even if I only save $5 here & there, it’s something. But this month, there’s a coupon in there for $0.75 suet cakes. I’ve never seen suet cheaper than that, and provided I can find a way to store it, I will get the limit of 48. But mice always get into mine in the winter. Even in airtight containers. I really enjoy feeding the wild birds and suet brings a much nicer assortment than seed alone.

And the Rubinstein’s coupons are back in Val Pak! Yay! I don’t think there were in there last year at back to school time, or maybe I just missed them. But they have a free ream of paper with purchase and many other small bts items free with purchase. In the past I’ve been able to do it all as one purchase–not have to do a $12 purchase for the paper, then another $10 for the index cards, etc. I’ve been allowed to only make one $12 purchase and get all the freebies. This is usually the time that I evaluate my coupon binders & see if they need updating or check my son’s school’s wishlist and get  few items from that.

A few fun freebie websites

Here are a couple of websites for a new trendy type of marketing. The idea is, that marketers will send out a few thousand samples of a product, you try it, like it, and tell all your friends about it. Supposedly word-of-mouth marketing is the most effective type. In any event, it’s easy to do and takes very little time. For both of these websites, you just sign up and they send you email. If you’re interested in that particular product you sign up, if you’re not, you don’t.

The first is House Party. House party sends out kits to launch new products. You have to apply to host a House Party, so even though you like the product, it’s not guaranteed you’ll get it. But if you’re chosen, the package that you get is usually awesome. They’ve sent out Wiis and Playstations and all kinds of expensive stuff. Right now, I’ve applied to Fisher Price and Capri Sun house parties, just waiting to hear. I know that there is a Star Wars one out there right now too.

The other one is BzzAgent. I’ve been doing Bzzagent for several years and it’s fun. They e-mail you applications to join campaigns for products, and I’ve gotten lots of free products to try. They also give you coupons to use and hand out to friends to try the products. We’ve even tested vodka as a part of Bzzagent!
Another cool part about BzzAgent is that it is connected to MyPoints. So if you join Mypoints, you earn points towards more free stuff. You get the free stuff from Bzzagent, then fill out online reviews of what you thought. When you complete the surveys, you get more Mypoints. Collect the mypoints for even more free stuff! Through mypoints you can get cash from paypal or Amazon gift cards.

E-coupons, email coupons, sign ups, etc.

You’ve probably noticed by now that many coupon websites online require you to register prior to printing the coupon. I keep a separate junk email account just for this purpose. Signing up for these things generates tons of spam sometimes, though I’ve never gotten a virus or annoying pop-ups from signing up. Even if it doesn’t generate spam, they’ll send you ads all the time, and occasionally coupons. It also will generate more junk snail mail. When I have to put my name & address somewhere, I use different variations. I may not capitalize anything, and may only use my first initials–that way when the junk mail comes to the house, if it’s addressed to LL rather than Lisa, I know that it’s junk mail that was just generated by signing up for offers. I only use my real first and last name for regular business like bills and stuff. Interestingly, I just started receiving 2 magazines over the summer-Glamour and Parenting, both come to the house addressed to LL. I’ve never paid for them. Somehow, somewhere, in junk mail marketing la la land, someone thought I needed free magazine subscriptions.
