It’s today’s offer from Sneak Peeq, for new users. Click around and look for the badges for them–it can be confusing to start, but mine worked when we got the free scarves. I did have to X out of some error message I kept getting, but then they showed up at the top of my bar. You can register with just one click, using Facebook.

If you have the $10 we earned from the scarves, you can buy the charms.

Review and Giveaway~purminerals cosmetics~win a spring make up kit or an iPad!

Recently I had the opportunity to try some purminerals cosmetics. It was a blogger program that I had signed up for, and I received the products at no charge in exchange for the review. All opinions expressed are my own. Or Heather’s. But I’ll get to that in a minute.

pur minerals, pressed minerals

I wanted to do this because I use “minerals” cosmetics, only I’ve never used pur. I don’t want to mention their competitors by name, but I’ve used several and liked some and disliked some. But I am always anxious to try new things and this seemed like nice stuff. As it turned out, the day the products arrived, Heather (who writes here) was at my house. I opened the box while she was here and started looking at the stuff. One of the items–the plumping lip gloss, I knew I’d never use it. I often purchase lip stuff with the best of intentions, but I never use it. I have very small lips and think any kind of lip color looks odd on me. So I gave it to her. She said that she really liked it, likes the way it goes on. Her only complaint is that it is much too glossy for her style. If you like a glossy gloss, then this is for you.

I also received the pressed mineral foundation, the tinted moisturizer, and the pressed mineral blush. It took me a day or two to get used to a pressed mineral foundation (I had been using a loose powder) but once I did, I really like it. The tinted moisturizer–well, it’s just a bit too “tan” for my February face right now, but I like it. Once spring/summer comes and I get a bit of natural sun color it will work out great. It also has SPF in it which I like. At my age, I am concerned about wrinkles and sun damage, but at the same time like a bit of color. This fits the bill!

If you had asked me a few years ago about makeup, I really did not have a preference. I would buy whatever I could on clearance or on a deal with coupons. Now that I’m a tad older, I am getting more picky. I like that purminerals has vitamins in it, retinols, lactic acids….all the stuff to help me look younger and less sleep deprived! I don’t wear makeup every day, so I am starting to lean more towards what the products have to offer, rather than just picking up the cheapest stuff. Plus, you can still find deals! I found a $20 off $60 purchase for purminerals, at savings.com.

To kick off their spring line of cosmetics, purminerals is hosting a fun giveaway. Twenty winners will get a Spring Kick-Off kit, and one grand prize winner will get a iPad!

Visit Babypop.com for the best Superhero Costumes and Capes!

I’ve been shopping around a bit, since my one little guy is turning 3 in a few weeks. And every day, as I clean up the endless mound of toys and trip over even more toys, and still have to throw away even a few more toys that the dogs chew up……..I am reminded that we don’t really need any toys. But I still want to get him something fun–3 is a fun age and he is fun to be around and play with. And while we are fiscally responsible parents, I don’t want to be *that parent* that gives a 3-year-old a gift of a savings bond or something.

How cute are these? Custom with your child's initial.

So, then I was reminded about my friend over at Babypop.com. Sherry is a fellow Philly Social Media Mom, and she’s fun to be around too. She also has a very cool business, making custom made superhero costumes and kids capes. Look at how cute they are! And my little guy is so proud of himself that he knows some of his letters, including B and tells me all the time that “B is for Brian.” He’s going to love a “B” cape.

What I also like about them is that they will encourage a child to use their imagination, and not get locked into the persona of a “licensed character,” know what I mean? I mean, I don’t care if they pretend to be Superman, Batman or whoever…….but I’d prefer that they come up with it on their own, or invent their own character. Much as I try to monitor it, they are exposed to too much American commercialism every day. She also has a really cute Shamrock themed cape which would be really fun for a family that celebrates their Irish heritage.

In addition to kids capes, Babypop also offers gloves, masks, crowns, superhero princess capes and even a cape for your pet. It’s a really great gift idea, and they are unusual, fun and affordable. I envision that this will be a “toy” that Brian plays with over and over, for years to come. Definitely go check out Babypop.

Not just for boys, there are princess superhero capes and masks too.
