Home Sweet Home! New features-look inside!

I just got off the phone with a ‘web designer.’ That sounds so high-falootin, doesn’t it? But it’s true, I have a real webpage design company working on a new look and new features for Lisa’s Bargain Alert. (Pssst-it’s going to have a new name too, but more about that later.)

One of the new features I’m extremely excited about is more information about your home and real estate. And I am happy to welcome Hilary to the team. You can read more about Hilary on our About Us page. When the new site is launched, hopefully within a few weeks, we will have a Home Sweet Home section with all sorts of interesting and informative advice on housing. We also hope to include an “Ask Hilary” section where you can post questions to her. Her personal web page can be found here. Until all of these features are up and running, her columns will run as regular blog posts. Your home is most likely the largest purchase you will make in your lifetime, let’s make sure you’re spending smart.

Sandbox Threads

Omigosh-look at this stuff! So many cute things. It’s also today’s Mamapedia deal.
Just a sampling of some of the shirts:

Company Kids-75% off clearance + 20% code

I first ordered from them when they had the $8 monogrammed Christmas stockings. Now through February 6, use the code AK20CLEA and get an additional 20% off your purchases, including the clearance department, some of which is already 75% off. I just briefly glanced at the items and there are summer things in the clearance. I saw lots of items for just 9.99 before the discount.

Don’t forget to go through ebates to get another 2.5% back. On ebates, they are listed at “The Company Store” but you can get to Kids through there.

Icy day here, let the online shopping begin! I think I’m going to get these:

This valance will go perfect with my boys’ room.

Comcast Logic

That’s an oxymoron I suppose. Nothing they seem to do is logical.

We’re getting rid of cable tv. We don’t need it and currently we’re paying about $120 for both tv (just basic) and internet.  So I called them today to drop the tv part, just keep internet. Of course they don’t want to lose me as a customer, so I was given these two options:

Drop the tv-internet only will cost us $59 month plus taxes/fees

I can sign up for some special 6-month plan, rate is only good for 6 months; both tv/internet will cost us $69 month plus taxes fees. This is $40 less than the $109 per month plus taxes/fees I am currently paying.

I chose the six month plan. Because…..we purchased a hdtv antenna, but with all this winter weather, Dan hasn’t installed it yet. This will at least carry us through the spring, even though it’s $10 more, we are still saving $40. We had planned on just doing without network tv, any shows we want to watch we can find online. The only thing we’d be missing is news and morning shows. I was ok with doing without them, but keeping them is nice too.

But here’s a thought…..hey stupid Comcast, why can’t you give me that $69 rate all the time, why just for six months? Of course they’re banking on me not calling in six months and cancelling, and conveniently and quietly my rates go back up to $109. Ha, they don’t know who they’re dealing with.

Call Comcast at 800-comcast to negotiate yourself a lower rate.
