About One: Being Organized Saves Time

It’s tax season and you can’t find those medical receipts you needed. The pharmacy is on the phone and you are looking frantically for the prescription number but the bottle isn’t where you knew you put it.  On top of that, you just pulled open the filing cabinet to pull out your back up paperwork only to find there was a paper explosion and it will take 2 hours just to  pull it all out, let alone find that one itty bitty piece of paper. Are any of these scenarios yours? I know I could give you a million more examples of situations I have been in and the stress they add to my life. Good grief, just pulling open the filing cabinet with it’s over-flowing pile of paperwork and bills is overwhelming and stressful.  About One is just the thing you need.

About One is an online organizer designed to help make keeping track of your family’s important information easier. Designed by a busy mom,  AboutOne creates easy access to important information even when you are away from home. Ever need important medical information on vacation?  Instead of the panic of trying to remember important things in an emergency, you can have the peace of knowing that the information is a few clicks away, through the internet or your mobile app.  Plus, with AboutOne’s bank level security, you don’t need to worry that someone else can access your personal information.

I just finished putting my family’s information, important contacts and health information in. Sign up was super easy and imputting the data was done in a few clicks of a button. I can’t wait until their calendar feature and documents are available so I can scan important forms into it. How easy is that? Instead of having to re-write them I hope to be able to click and print.

Check out the short video below to learn more about AboutOne and how it can help make your life easier.

Disney Baby: Magical Moments +Little Character Contest

A big thanks to Disney Baby for sponsoring this post and the Disney Baby “Little Character” Contest.

When I think of “magical moments” with my kids several come to mind. It’s a little harder to remember way back when they were tiny. It’s hard to believe that when they are babies you think you will never forget those precious moments. Sadly, if you don’t write them down or document them in pictures, they fade over time. One of my favorite memories was snuggling my daughter. When she was a newborn we had a lot of “skin to skin” time. It was winter. I had a c-section and spent much of my recuperating time in huge sweatshirts, curled up on the couch.

I use to tuck my little ball of a baby into my sweatshirt, on my chest, with just her little head sticking out the top of the sweatshirt. We both stayed cuddly warm and she often slept to the beat of my heart. To this day, whenever she needs comforted or is sick she still likes to be curled up on my chest. She doesn’t fit inside my sweatshirt so well anymore though. I am so proud to see the big girl she is becoming but sad to lose those sweet little baby breaths and sighs.

Vacation on a Budget

You hear everyone talking about that phenomenal trip they took – a cruise, Disney, some all inclusive resort, and even more foreign and amazing, international travel.  You are jealous. Good grief, you haven’t had a vacation without kids, let alone WITH kids for longer than you can remember. Those $$$ signs mount in your head and you envision maxing out your credit card just attempting to DREAM of vacation.

STOP!

Okay, reality may be you CAN’T afford a vacation. I don’t recommend going into debt for one but over the next few weeks I want to bring you some ways you can vacation for under $150. Sure, most of them will be day trips, but a day vacation is better than no vacation and offers that break that, well, keeps us from breaking.  I refuse to go into debt for a vacation. One day of fun is so not worth that bill hanging over my head, leaving me stressed out. This is all part of our quest to be debt free and to live within our means. Buy now, pay later does not afford our dream or give us peace.

First some tips –

1) Set a budget AND STICK TO IT. Only do what you can afford.

2) Go local. Explore your city, your state, the surrounding area – save gas, hotel, and food expenses.

3) Be creative.

4) Have fun and don’t stress.

Stay tuned for a post later today on where your first adventure could take you.
