{diapers and wipes} price roundup for week of January 6~10+ stores listed

Coupons:

Huggies are coming 1/6, Pampers were in 12/29  inserts. Varying amounts. As always, there are many home mailers.

$2.00 off any one PULL-UPS Training Pants
$1.50 off ONE Pampers Baby Dry Diapers
$0.50 off ONE Pampers Wipes 60 ct. or larger
$1.50 off Triple Paste medicated ointment
$1.50 off any one package of HUGGIES Diapers
$2.00 off 1 HUGGIES Little Movers Slip-On Diapers
$3.00 off any 1 Gerber Good Start Soothe Formula
$0.50 off two Gerber Graduates Yogurt Grabbers

Pricing guidelines (my opinion): Don’t pay more than $0.02 per wipe or $0.20 per diaper unless you’re out. Aim for $0.01 per wipe or less and under $0.15 per diaper–give or take, depending on size of diaper. Larger sizes cost more.

Packaging: Use your phone or a calculator to figure out what you are paying per diaper. I do not calculate all the costs in this post because number of diapers per package varies greatly.

Acme, Jan 4-10: Acme has a $5 off your next order when you accumulate $25 in qualifying baby products.

Diapers include:

  • Baby Basics jumbo packs at $7.99
  • big things of Huggies at $19.99
  • SuperPacks of Pampers at $25.99
  • Pampers and Huggies tubs of wipes shown at $2.99, which is a TERRIBLE price for 60 wipes! That’s almost $0.05 a wipe!

Amazon: prices change all the time, but here is a round up of best Amazon diaper deals.

Big Lots: Remember those horribly ugly denim-ish diapers that Huggies came out with? Well, BL has them at $7 a jumbo pack and $15 a box. Depending on the count, this could be an ok price if you’re going to cover them up anyway. Big Lots does not take coupons.

CVS, Jan 6-12:

Pampers Jumbo Packs are $9.49 and big things of wipes for $5.99,  and $3 ECB back when you buy both.

Giant, Jan 6-12:

Kmart, Jan 6-12 : Buy a big box of Huggies at $29.99, get free tub of wipes. Store brand big box, $15.99. Also, front page of website says “stock up sale” and shows a box of Luvs, but they are not in ad. May be worth checking out.

Fisher Price~extra 20% off all sale items

I know it seems crazy to be suggesting toys and stuff right now, but this Fisher Price sale definitely deserves a second look. And, it’s not just toys, they have diaper bags and other baby items like swings and stuff. Some of you also have kids’ birthdays and stuff coming up too. It’s not great timing, but babies come when they come–so some have birthdays in January, right?

My son LOVES these (even though I think they're a bit odd). But at this price I will stock up because he wears them out!

#StarsAtLongwood open until January 6~five reasons why you should go

I was coming home from Philly last night and drove past Longwood Gardens, of course. Because that’s how I have to get home. But my 3-year-old was still awake, it was 9:30 or so, and marveling at the lights. So I was reminded that while I went in November, I never took them there. The display is still on display until January 6, so luckily I still have time. Here are six reasons why I think people should still go, even though it’s past Christmas. My family takes our beach vacation the second week of September, every year. I’m a huge fan of doing popular activities in the “shoulder seasons” so that my family can enjoy it more.

One of the main outdoor walkways.

1. Everyone talks about having “that Christmas feeling all year ’round.” So why not do it? It will recharge your Christmas spirit for the new year.

2. The crowds are less. Today and tomorrow it may be a bit crowded, due to the holiday, but after that, it won’t be nearly as crowded as a December weekend. You can enjoy it so much more. Less waiting for food, bathrooms, seeing the displays–everything!

3. There are probably really good buys/sales in the gift shop, for after Christmas. And they have really cute things!

4. We have a bit of snow on the ground right now, so it’s prettier. And the weather “feels” more like Christmas right now, than it did 2-3 weeks ago when it was mild and rainy.

5. If you make it an annual tradition, you’ll have something to look forward too after the holidays, which can be sort of a letdown. I like having one family thing to do after the holidays to boost us into January.

My plan is to go this Friday evening, the 4th. See you there?

Publicize your event, activity, class or giveaway for free on our calendar!

Exciting news! We have a new calendar here on the site, and it’s soooooo much better than the old one! We (and especially Heather!) worked very hard to maintain the most up to date listings of free and low-cost family events, consignment sales and more. Now it will be easier to be included and as always, will be free.

Here is the link to the calendar: Calendar

If you scroll down, you’ll see a button that says “Add Event.” That’s how easy it is–just add your event and it will instantly be published on the calendar.

A few notes:

When readers see the calendar, it has a Pinterest feel and look to it, so include a picture for best results.

I will get email notifications of events posted, any inappropriate content will be removed.

What we are looking for:

The event or giveaway must be family friendly and open to anyone. In the past, we only listed free family activities but are no longer holding to that rule. However, please keep price in mind, and make sure your event fits with the general feel and theme of this site–which is frugal living.

Events should occur in the Philadelphia region, or be available everywhere. For example, if you want to post a webinar that could be accessed from anywhere that would be fine. Hyper-local and local events that are not local to Philadelphia will be deleted.

Giveaways

Bloggers, you are welcome to enter your giveaways on the calendar, but please follow these instructions. Enter your giveaway on the LAST day of the giveaway. So if you are running a giveaway, and the last day to enter it is January 2, please put it on that date on the calendar. Please format it like this: Giveaway-(name of prize) and that’s it. The end date won’t be necessary, because it will “fall off” the calendar once that date has passed. All prizes must be family friendly. The Philadelphia area requirement does not apply for giveaways.

No link backs required, but if you want to do one, or a share, tweet or comment–it’s always appreciated!
