Another giveaway! 24k Wine Glasses

I was going to wait until we hit 1000 fans on Facebook to do more giveaways, but what the heck? Why not do it now? Especially since this prize goes along nicely with a wedding–a royal one at that.

You all know I love wine deals. So when I saw an opportunity to do a product review & giveaway from the best in the business, Wine Enthusiast, of course I jumped at the chance.

I recently received a few items from them to try & review. One was this foil cutter. My dad sometimes makes fun of me because I don’t know how to use a traditional corkscrew. I have one of the newer lever-style models, and combined with the right foil cutter, it’s just so easy. Why would I want to just scrape at the foil with the end of the corkscrew? He’s very old-school sometimes. Anyway, this foil cutter works very well.

I also got two pairs of these wine glasses. A pair for me and a pair for you! They are called Old World, and are hand-painted with 24k gold! Nope, I’m not kidding. They are appropriate for both red and white wine which makes them perfect for any occasion. I will be toasting the prince & princess tomorrow, as I watch reruns of their wedding (not getting up at 4 am, I’m not that crazy!). I can’t go to London, so sipping wine out of an Old World 24k wine glass will have to do.

Will you join me? All you have to do is leave a comment, and tell me your favorite type of wine. You can be as vague as just saying red or white, or be as specific as a grape variety or brand. This contest ends Sunday night at 8 pm, and random.org will pick a winner. Good Luck!

Got wine?

I like to save money and avoid paying full retail price wherever I can. Living in Pennsylvania, it’s pretty hard to save money on alcohol and wine. I’m lucky that I can walk to Delaware if necessary, and they have privately owned stores that offer slightly better prices. And my favorite local store, Hockessin Liquor, has had 15% off coupons on the backs of Acme receipts for months. Plus no sales tax.

But we live in a no wine tag state. If I didn’t participate in national online coupon forums, I wouldn’t even know about wine tags. But I do, so I know. And I wish we had them. But we don’t. We live in a completely old-fashioned and archaeic system as far as liquor stores, and every governor says he’s going to change it and he never does. Pfft.

Anyway, last week’s Red Plum inserts had several $1.50 off wine coupons for brands such as Clos du Bois and Robert Mondavi. I just checked online and the PA stores are advertising these brands on sale for $8 and up. I’ve had some of the Mondavi stuff, but not any of the other brands. For $6.50 or so, I’ll try it, why not. Can always use cooking wine if it sucks.

In the past when these coupons have been out, the Delaware stores, at least the ones in Hockessin, would not take them. I understand, they’re small, family-run operations and not set up for it. That’s fine. Perhaps Total Wine will take them, I haven’t tried. I know I’ve used them at the PA stores. Hockessin Liquor still has the 15% off one available and what’s nice about that is that there’s no minimum purchase like at Total Wine.

You can click on the wine image on the left to see the entire selection of Robert Mondavi wines.

Half off wine again!

Ryan’s Wine & Spirits on Concord Pike, great deal!

Just *4* hours left for this wine tasting deal

Here is a link to one of this week’s Groupon deals. It’s for a wine tasting and bottle of wine at Flickerwood in Kennett Square. They have a really great setting and the women who work there are a lot of fun. This will be a really nice voucher to have this winter when you get cabin fever and want to get out for a day. You have about six months to redeem this offer, and when you do………..go next door, I work right next door!
