$15 off a $15 Avery purchase at Staples

Well, this just figures. I just went there today to spend my Staples Rewards that were going to expire. I could have gotten more free stuff!

THIS POST IS NOW EDITED: I have learned that this code is intended for Avery products only. Avery makes cool stuff, especially if you do Box Tops. If you use it on a non-Avery products purchase, your order may be canceled. And it’s not the right thing to do ;)

MAY be too good to be true but it is definitely worth a shot!

Right now at Staples.com — when you use the promo code 25172 it takes $15 off any AVERY order of $15 or more!!!!  PLUS — you can get free in store pick up. Or, that Savings.com link should give you free shipping! Enjoy! I’m off to try mine right now.

Thanks Wheelndealnmama!

Use up those FSA dollars by 12/31!

If you have money sitting in an FSA account, you need to spend it! I know, I know, it can be a real pain. But it’s “use it or lose it.” So you better use it!

Drugstore dot com has all the eligible items separated out for you, to make it easy. Remember, all you have to do is spend the money by 12/31, you can submit for reimbursement (if that is how yours works) afterwards, I think you get 2 months or so.

Five Ways to Cool Down Your Home Heating Costs

The average American household spends $1000 each year heating their home. By implementing the suggestions given, you could save 10-25% on your home heating bill.

Here are some of the tips:

1. Reduce thermostat by one degree when you’re home-1-3% savings.

2. Reduce it by 10 degrees while you are sleeping or at work-10-15% savings.

3. Reduce temperature on hot water heater by 20 degrees-6% savings.

4. Put an insulating blanket on hot water heater-4-9% savings.

5. New/proper/adequate home insulation-20% savings

We’ve done all of these things except #3. We had to replace the insulation in our attic, as it was the original (60+ years old) and pretty worthless. My husband did all the removal work himself which was quite laborious, but it saved us $2000. The new insulation cost us about $1500 but it did qualify for the 2010 tax credit. It will take some years for us to recoup that spending, but we had to do it. After one season, we have definitely felt the difference. We are using so much LESS oil and electricity, despite being home more.
