Review: Misto a Must Have?

I use to work for a kitchen store.  We used a Misto  there all the time. Obviously I quit working there at some point. I am not sure why I never got the Misto  then because, well, I loved it AND I had a 40% discount (Serious DUH!).

So, the other month a  I bought one. Ok, ok, you are asking what this thing is.

A Misto is pretty much one of those cooking spray bottles(PAM). The Misto bottle is made of brushed aluminum and plastic. It is even better though because there are no chemicals involved and it is re- useable. You get to use whatever oil you want to and with just an itty bitty bit more work, save so much money. Extra work? You need to fill the bottle and then the lid acts as a pump to get it going. When you use it you need to pump it occasionally to get it primed but honestly, it really isn’t a hassle at all. 3 oz. of oil goes so far in one of these things.

How much money does it save? It all depends how much you pay for cooking spray.  The most I will pay is $2 each  so at under $10 for a Misto  I start saving after I use approximately 5 bottles worth of spray. If you pay $3 a bottle, you save just after 3 bottles. Because I used the Misto  heavily at a kitchen store all the time I already know that I will easily make my money back. Plus I can use extra virgin olive oil to grease my cake pan without paying extra.

I love that it comes in several colors and since my goal is to eventually have a blue/brown kitchen I ordered the brushed aluminum blue one.  What are you waiting for? You NEED one of these in your kitchen.  I know they have some that may be cheaper but I am not about to “test” their quality when I know that Misto is a brand that works.

{Review} Clorox Greenworks

I recently was given the opportunity to use and review some products from Clorox Green Works. Even though, via couponing, I have several items from competing manufacturers in my basement, I wanted to try this stuff. Lately, with having two small children–my cleaning tasks are always on the increase, but the products I was using just felt too “chemically.” Does that make sense? But to be honest, even though I’ve had friends say “Oh well you absolutely MUST try baking soda, or vinegar…blah blah blah…” I just don’t feel like I’m getting things as clean with those items. I don’t.

These are the products I received from them:

  • Green Works Cleaning Wipes –  It is 100% compostable, so you can clean up after your family and guests.
  • Green Works Laundry Detergent –  The dermatologist-tested formula is gentle on skin and formulated for both standard and high-efficiency (HE) washers.
  • Green Works Bathroom Cleaner –  The bathroom cleaner is a non-toxic way to power through soap scum, rust and hard water stains — without harsh chemical fumes and residue.
  • Green Works All Purpose Cleaner –  It is safe to use on multiple surfaces throughout the kitchen and bathroom, including counters, appliances, stainless steel, sealed granite, chrome, cook top hoods, sinks and toilets.

I can tell you that the laundry detergent is gone! Already!  In fact, I was just laying in bed with my son the other night watching tv, and I could smell his jammies (washed in the detergent) and was thinking that I needed to get more, because I really like the smell. I found it to be comparable to all other premium detergents, as far as cleaning ability, but if this is a bit more environmentally friendly and I like the smell better, it would move into my first choice slot.

The all purpose cleaner I love and it will definitely be replaced when it’s gone. I feel like I am getting my kitchen tables and counters clean without too many harsh chemicals. I used to clean with a harsher product (only because I got it free with coupons) and then I would have to water it down because it felt too strong.

I sent the wipes to school with my son, and felt great about doing so. With how many wipes they go through in a day in his classroom, I like knowing that what I am sending in compostable.

And the bathroom cleaner, again, really liked it. Worked as well as other premium cleaners, but again, when I factor in scent and other factors, it moves to the top of my list. I think if you are concerned about harsh chemicals but still want a clean house, Clorox Green Works should definitely be considered. Check them out on Facebook for printables and other offers.

*Please note, I was given Clorox Green Works products at no charge. All opinions expressed are my own–c’mon, you guys know I tell you when I don’t like something.
