This week’s ads

I got my new batch of supermarket ads in the mail yesterday. Today while the boys were napping I had a chance to look them over–

Acme–Going to be skipping Acme this week, not much there. The only good deal that would be worth stopping for is the Gold Peak Tea. It’s 3 for $5, or 1.67 each. But it’s already a part of the 5/5 dairy promo, so when you buy 5, you’ll get $5 back. So a container of the Tea for $0.67. I really like this tea and normally would do it, except that I have about 4 cases of free snapple in my basement and my fridge is stuffed with free yogurt-no room for the tea. I’ll sit this one out.

Giant-the new Giant ad doesn’t start until Sunday, so over the weekend I’ll be looking at it closer since there are some gas deals. You have until Saturday to do the Hersheypark deal. I’ve looked at what is on sale and what coupons I have, and I can’t get lower than about $35 oop for $60 worth of stuff. After sending in the $20 rebate, it would be $15 for $60 worth of stuff, plus the savings of about $150 at Hersheypark….still mulling it over. I’m doing the savings challenge and only have $100 to work with, so $35 is a lot right now, especially since technically I don’t need any of it.

I will post more deals at Giant after I have more time to put some together.

Superfresh–the place to be this week! They are offering three catalina deals–Unilever, Georgia Pacific and GM. As far as I know, they all will be working off of shelf prices and I have lots of corresponding coupons. I plan on checking it out tomorrow and will post what I find.

a blah week-but keep your eye on Superfresh

Seems to be a very blah grocery week. Nothing to crow about as far as deals. Both Acme and Superfresh are running sales on their line of store-brand items. Personally I do not care for generics, as I do think sometimes the quality isn’t as good, and I find that with coupons and deals I can usually do better price-wise with name brand stuff. But I do buy generic if I can’t find a deal on staples, like flour, sugar, vinegar….stuff like that. So you may want to check it out.

Superfresh had a long, dry spell. No great sales, no triples, no decent catalina deals. But it seems in recent weeks they have picked up again–offering triples and great 2-day sales. So keep your eye on them.

A slow week once in a while is good to catch up on clipping & organizing, or just plain taking a break.

Happy New Year!

Wow! I haven’t posted in about six months, and for that I apologize. I certainly didn’t mean to disappear without a trace. Having two little ones is quite a bit to handle, so that knocked me on my ass–ha ha.

I read somewhere that most new bloggers only last six months before giving it up, but if you do it for two to three years, you’re in it for the long haul. So I want to give it another shot. I’m going to try to commit to two or three posts a week.

For this week, three things to consider:
1. Tomorrow will be a huge coupon insert day. If you’ve been slacking on clipping and collecting, this is a good weekend to recharge. Ask your friends & neighbors for theirs too.

2. Until Thursday it’s triples at Superfresh. A few freebies to be had, but not much. But you may want to check it out.

3. Until Thursday there is a spend 25 get 10 Procter & Gamble deal at Acme. As always, the $25 is based on shelf prices, not sale prices, and the catalina rolls.

4. New month started yesterday–so hit those printable sites if you haven’t already.

I guess I had 4 tips for today.

Happy couponing!

potential strike at Acme

It appears that within the next week or two, Acme workers will go on strike. I’m on the fence about how I feel about crossing picket lines. Overall I’m not a huge fan of labor unions anyway, but I don’t want my usual cashiers to see me and give me even more hassle over coupons.

And, I talked to one of the employees and he said it probably will affect the warehouse. Hence the store will be probably be poorly stocked anyway.

I’ve been finding decent deals at Superfresh lately, so I’ll keep my eye on them. And I guess I’ll go to Giant if I have to. That new store in Jennersville is much too big. And they only double one coupon which is annoying.
