Clearance Finds & Coupons

I said yesterday that I found some great clearance deals at the Kennett Walmart. I also found some good ones at the Avondale Acme. They finally marked down the stuff some more!

January and February are big clearance months. Lots of excess xmas merchandise to get rid of. And typically stores do inventory the first quarter of the year, and they’d rather sell it than count it. Keep your eyes peeled as I am sure there are lots of good deals to be found. The drug stores have started clearancing cosmetics and both the Kennett Rite Aid and Landenberg CVS and Walgreen’s have cheap makeup.

From my experience, these are the stores that allow you to use coupons on clearanced merchandise:
Walmart
Kmart
Target
CVS
Walgreen’s
Peebles
JCPenney
Kohl’s
Carter’s & Osh Kosh

There might be more, those are the stores I frequent the most.

random deals I came across

A few things I saw while out today or read online:

Weis: claims they are freezing prices, not sure for how long or if this is just a gimmick, but can’t hurt to keep your eye on their ads for deals.

Acme: a few conagra items (spaghettios, manwich) are 0.80 each when you buy ten. If you have the coupons that came in the mail or from an All You, could mean cheap spaghettios. Luckily my kids’ school/daycare lets me send lunches that need heating, so I often send these in winter. While you’re there, check for clearance meat/seafood post holiday, good time to get some things for the freezer. Check your coupon binder for the Ronzoni Garden Pasta coupon. It’s on sale for $1 so you’ll get $0.50 overage with the coupon.

Superfresh: They keep running pasta deals for $0.59-$0.77 a box. That’s a stock up price for me!

Swiss Miss: this hot cocoa is being sold for about a buck just about everywhere. There’s a $2 printable coupon on redplum, so free hot cocoa with possible overage. I know it’s $1 at both Walmart and Acme.

Walmart: I found fantastic clearance deals there today. Lots of small, gifty type things for next xmas for $0.25. Some decorations, gift wrap. I spent $16 and got 29 things. Tissue paper and gift wrap to be donated too. I also found a rack of tie-dye t-shirts for kids for $1. I love my little boys in tie-dye, so I got one.

Happy bargaining!

found great deals at Superfresh & Walmart

I had to pick up a few things this morning for our meals tonight & tomorrow and drop off some dry cleaning, plus last night I went through my coupons to see what was expiring today. I ran in to an old friend (Hi there!) at Acme, and I said “Yeah, just enjoying the time to myself, wandering the aisles..” and she replied “Oh, I remember those days.” I enjoy finding great bargains and doing the matchups.

Walmart-all xmas is 75% off and I got great gift boxes (10 pack) and wrapping paper for $0.75 each. I also found one Fusion gift set for $2.22 and an Olay one for 2.50 and Herbal Essences for 2.50. After coupons ($4 fusion, $2 olay, $2 HE) it was still a moneymaking venture of about $0.50 and I am still mailing in rebates since they were purchased by the deadline of today.

Superfresh-small things of Bounce sheets are 0.99. My coupon was only for 0.20, but it doubled. Some areas got a 0.50 coupon so it will be free. I was completely out of dryer sheets and doing without, glad to have a small stockpile again. Progresso broth is $2 so only $1 if you have the $1 coupon from the Safeway booklet or a bit more if you have the $0.40 coupon from the inserts.

Acme-running a 5/20 P&G deal and I really needed napkins. Remember, works on shelf or knockdown prices, then pay sale price minus coupons. The deal does not stack–I purchased two boxes of diapers (19.99) and a small filler to hit $40 because there is another $5 catalina wyb two boxes of diapers. Plus I had two home mailers for $2 off diapers, and two FREE wipes when you buy diapers. So for about $36, I got two boxes of diapers and two tubs of wipes, plus two $5 catalinas back–one from the P&G deal and one from the diaper deal. I was hoping for a third $5 catalina for hitting the $20 threshhold twice, but no go. Did not stack. Lots of items on knockdown which stinks, I don’t really see any freebies to be had, but if you need the stuff, cheaper than usual. I stuck to diapers & napkins which I needed. Their xmas stuff is at half off.

Overall I was pleased with my purchases, did very well. My grocery savings at all three stores was over 50% and that’s what I always aim for.
