Diaper prices this week, May 1

Pampers coupons in today’s paper, Huggies was 4/17 inserts. Pampers/Luvs rarely if ever does printables. Huggies does quite often, check coupons dot com toolbar on this blog. Remember to use a phone/calculator to determine price per diaper that you’re paying. Try to stay at $0.20 per diaper or less. Under $0.02 each per wipe. Under $0.15 per diaper or $0.01 per wipe is my stockup price.

Target-has big boxes of both for 19.99/each. $5 gc wyb two boxes.

Kmart-no Huggies sale listed. Pampers is a P&G item and they are running a $10/$35 promo. I would get four jumbo packs to put me over the $35 limit, then use four coupons.

CVS-nothing listed, assume regular prices

Walgreens-has their store brand on sale for $5.99. Use the $2 coupon from infant care booklet to pay $3.99 each. That gets you down to about $0.12-$0.15 per diaper! Ask for the $2 coupon back, but ymmv. They are allowed to return it to you, but don’t have to. And one coupon should take $2 off of every pack you get.

Acme-big box is 19.99 and included in the $5/$20 P&G deal. But you’ll have to buy a cheap P&G filler item, or something you need, to get over the $20.

Giant-this is my plan. Will update you if it works.

My two picks for this week would be the Walgreens deal if you have the infant care booklet. That’s the easiest deal-no rebates to be bothered with or catalinas to roll. But I love Pampers best, so for that reason, I’m still going to try Giant.

Quick deal roundup for this week

Is it just me, or is it a slow week for deals? I guess that’s to be expected. All the sales are focused on Mothers Day items like jewelry, flowers, candy, picture frames, perfume and other stuff like that.

And I apologize for being light on posting lately. What I’ve been doing instead of blogging: enjoying the sunshine, cleaning out closets & getting ready for our neighborhood yard sale, taking a class to become a BCEA (special ed advocate) and just mom stuff. As the great deals increase, so will my posts; that’s usually how it goes. Anyway, for this week, there are a few things to check out.

Acme-I posted last week about the P&G deal and gave an update. I still will probably do it two or three more times to get dog food & paper towels. But the P&G coupons aren’t that hot, nothing to make anything free. And my coupons, I noticed this week I got MANY more $1 off 2s instead of $1 off 1s. Gee, thanks P&G. And the $0.20 coupons–seriously? A bottle of Downy is $6 or $7, $0.40 isn’t even a 10% savings. How do you go from offering $2 off of Pampers wipes to offering $0.20 off? Ok, enough of that. But, I didn’t see anything on knockdown which is good, will all work on shelf prices. And if you need the stuff and have the good home mailer coupons, there are decent deals to be had. And the Wisk is a decent deal if you can find the clearance and have the $2 coupons.

Giant-I will check out the Pampers deal in conjunction with the $25/$100 offer and report back. I do want to check this one out.

CVS-Meh. Colgate will be a moneymaker, depending on what coupons you have for it, but it’s limit two. The Frito Lay items, the smaller ones are 3 for $1 and you get $1 back wyb three. So free, and you can do it 5x. But I’m not expecting much. I would expect that most stores won’t have enough on hand of what I like. After all, every couponer will be buying 15 items. My apologies–I should have posted this yesterday as a Sunday must-do deal, I bet by now there’s already not much left! They also have several P&G offers. I would like to get the Soleil which is cheap. I dislike that they are posting the deals in supercouponer format. Hmph. Overall not a terrible week, but no hot freebies, imo.

Walgreens-I have $10 in RR that I must spend this week, what to spend them on? I really don’t see anything, so will probably not roll them, just spend them. I do need envelopes which are on sale. The GUM flossers are free after RR and I think I may actually have coupons for those that I got inside of packages. Walgreens has also started posting some of their deals in supercouponer format.

Good week to stock up on razors, I guess.

Kmart-doing a $10/$35 P&G deal. Will work on sale prices, not shelf prices. Has always rolled for me.

Ulta-has a $3.50 off $10 coupon on front of flyer. Can be stacked with mfr coupons and sales. They are currently running sales on P&G stuff (Cover Girl, Olay, Pantene, Venus), Garnier, Neutrogena, Physicians Formula & Revlon–all of which currently have mfr coupons out. Check the PF stuff for “Try Me Free” rebate offers stuck to packages as peelies.

L.L.Bean-I haven’t tried it yet, but I read that using the code THANKYOU will get you an additional 20% off your purchase, plus they now offer FREE shipping all the time with no restrictions. Last time I found a code, I got the boys some of the unshrinkable tees which are only $8 each wyb three. Then it did take another % off with the code. I love these tees for them, they hold up very well. Can also be stacked with clearanced items and I saw several cute cropped pants I need to check more closely.

Target also offering several P&G items on a gift card deal. Not bad prices if you need the stuff and have coupons. Even better if you have other $5 GCs to roll. They also have an Aveeno GC deal.

I certainly will update with my news on the Giant deal which I hope to check out tomorrow. And other great deals as I find them!

Walgreen’s-

Hockessin Liquors-tasting event

I know I plug Hockessin Liquor quite a bit. It’s the closest wine store to my home (lucky me!), no sales tax, they offer great discounts plus they have 15% off coupons on the back of Acme receipts. 15% off is great–and it’s valid even if you only buy one bottle. There’s, uh, ahem, a much larger and much more publicized store just down in DE a bit further in Pike Creek area, but they make you buy an entire case of the exact same item before they give you a discount. That doesn’t work well for me. Hockessin Liquor is also a family-owned small business and you know my penchant for supporting the little guy. My husband went there on Friday to get some things and a salesperson gave him an invitation and told him “here, give this to your wife.” I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, that I’m known at the local wine store.

And although these features have zero appeal to me, my husband likes that they have a great beer selection and you can buy it one bottle at a time if you prefer. That’s good for him because if he reads about a new micro-brew that he wants to try, he can try just one bottle before investing in more. I don’t drink beer, this is why those features of the store don’t appeal to me.

Anyway, the invitation they gave me is for a tasting event on May 21 from 3-6. Checked the calendar and that’s a Saturday. I put in on my calendar and told Dan he’ll have to watch the boys. Since it’s on 41 and just a stone’s throw away, afterwards I’d like to go to Taqueria Moroleon. They were recently favorably reviewed by Craig Laban which is pretty damn cool. You know you’ve hit the big time when you get that kind of review, and here it is, in little ole’ Avondale.

Anyway, back to the wine tasting. I’m assuming anyone can go, but if you get an invitation, you turn that in in order to be eligible for raffles they are doing. So stop in and ask if you can be entered. I love giveaways, especially wine giveaways! Refreshments are being provided by the Back Burner, another local favorite of mine. If you’ve never hosted a holiday gathering or party and served their Better Cheddar, you are missing out. Seriously. It has become a staple at parties I host. It has a very strong flavor though, not sure what I’d pair it with.

Hope to see some of you there!

Acme Update: P&G and Wisk

First, there is a Wisk catalina printing-$2 when you buy Wisk. Most of it is $8.99, so not a great deal even if you do have the $2 coupons. But, there is clearance Wisk at $5.99 and that is reported to also be generating the catalina. And it does roll. I saw lots of the clearance Wisk at the Avondale Acme. The tag is there, but oddly, it’s hidden behind a bunch of Tide. I gave all of my coupons away so I didn’t get any.

The P&G deal-I can confirm it’s working on shelf prices. I got the dog food, which is $21.99 shelf, $17.99 sale. Plus I have those awesome $8 Iams coupons I found at my vet. But one bag of dog food did generate the catalina. And this time, there’s no mention of it not being used on P&G items, and it did roll on to my next transaction. I got one Bounty, one Cascade, used two $1 coupons plus the catalina, got another one.

And I checked most of the items and nothing appears to be on knockdown which is good. They had these one pages handouts at the register. I wrote the shelf prices on mine and scanned it in. Hope you can enlarge it & print it.
