Walmart testing double coupons

*Hot* news from the web–Walmart testing double coupons in select areas. This will be HUGE if it goes national. I’ve read that they are doubling coupons up to $0.99 in face value, and double it up to $1. That means the $0.75/1s will be worth $1.00. For those of you near me, we already get true doubles at most of grocery stores–Acme, Superfresh and Genuardi’s, and Giant will do one like coupon per transaction. But if Walmart joins this game, it’s going to change the playing field, imo. For some reason, right now, they are only doing it on Tuesdays. Go figure.

Here is the list of areas participating:

Madison, Ohio

Charleston, West Virginia

Utah County, Utah ( 7 stores)

Huntington, West Virginia

Wayne, West Virginia

Findlay, Ohio

No coupons? No problem! Week of 7/31

If you don’t like to clip coupons, they stay tuned for this weekly feature. Well, I say I’m going to do it weekly, and then I usually do it 2-3 times per month. I try!

There are still plenty of good deals to be had for those who aren’t interested in clipping coupons. My picks for this week are:

Target: Raging hot clearance event going on right now. I would expect it to be very well picked over, but if you like to poke & hunt around clearance sales, then this is for you. What you do find will be 75-80% off.

Dollar General: Offering an in-store coupon this week for $3 off 3 Kellogg’s items. That will make some cereals and Pop-tarts $1-$1.50 per box. Not bad!

Kmart: Another store doing a huge clearance event. Again, have to be in the mood to poke around and look, but if you find your sizes, expect to pay $1-$2 for clothing items.

Walgreens: Great week at Walgreens, even if you don’t clip coupons. Several items are giving back the same amount in Register Rewards that they cost. Look for Crayola markers, contact lens solution, Goody hair accessories and more. Check your store flyer and load up. Get your RRs, then turn around and spend them on what you need. Or, hang on to them for a week or so and see if new rolling opportunities come up.

CVS: Only one little freebie–Skinny Cow candy is $0.99, get $0.99 back in Extra Bucks. Limit one.

Acme: Chance to double dip on the Pampers/P&G catalina. The P&G is spend $20, get $5. The Pampers are $19.99, so you’ll need a small P&G filler, see ad. Pay roughly $20.xx, you should get a $5 and a $2 back. $13 for the big box of diapers is decent, imo, but do the math to see how much per diaper-just to be sure.

Staples: lots of good back to school deals, including several penny items.

Superfresh, 7/29-8/4

Overall, I’m much more pleased with this ad.

Eggs are $0.99

Kellogg’s-40% off, I hope you signed up for printables when I posted it!

Tropicana, 2 for 5, coupons from 7/10

Thomas Eng Muffins-$2.50, and you don’t have to buy 10 like at Acme.

Fresh Express-$2.50 (I prefer a lower price to bogo)

Fage-$1

Stouffers red box-$2

select Nabisco items-$1.99, $0.50 cheaper than Acme

Ronzoni-$0.88 (I’m enjoying their consistently under-a-dollar pasta prices)

Cheerios-4 for $12, free milk wyb 4; if you have the $0.75/1s, you’d get 4 boxes of cereal + gallon of milk for $6, not bad.

J&J items, spend $20, get $5

Stayfree/Carefree-$2.50

Listerine-$4.95

Bandaid-$2

Clean & clear-$1.25 off

Neutrogena-$1 off

It should work on shelf price, then pay sale price minus any coupons. If you have the $.50 Bandaid coupons, that could be a decent deal. There are always $1 Listerine coupons out too.

La Yogurt-10 for $5, I hope there’s a new coupon coming Sunday, haven’t checked yet. I like this yogurt because I find that it’s really, really hard to find yogurt without artificial sweeteners in it.

Lots and lots of America’s Choice stuff on sale, my current coupons are expired. Look around entryways and stuff for coupon booklets, hopefully new ones came out. I’m very tempted to try the AC brand of Nutella.

Entenmann’s loaf cakes-$1.99; we’re going berry-picking next week, plus my freezer has tons of free Cool Whip in it, so I should get some of these.

Martinson coffee-$2.99 for 13 oz can; that’s a good price, has anyone tried this? I’ve just had it with bags of coffee that are now $9-$10 for a 10 or 11 oz bag. The New England brand is only $4.99 a bag, so that’s not bad either. I haven’t found one of their varieties that we like though.

Lawrys marinades are 3 for 5, cheaper than Acme. If you have the $0.50 coupons, only $0.67!

AC 100% apple juice-3 for 5, great price.

Don’t forget to check Superfresh’s website and load your Zavers. It was this time last year that they were sending me coupons for free notebooks & stuff.

Acme ad, 7/29-8/4

When I look at grocery store ads these days, I have to constantly remind myself that the days of easy freebies are over. I think. It’s a difficult concept for me to grasp, since there was a time when Acme and other stores just let us walk out the door with all sorts of product, paying for it with just coupons. Now when I see a catalina offer, for a brief moment I’m thinking “oooh, cool, what’s going to be supercheap or free?” and then I read it closely, and realize……..nothing. Sigh, and this week is no different.

As always, check your e-savings and get printables before you go. More printables can be found on the “coupons” tab of my newly redesigned Facebook page.

Procter & Gamble: Spend $20, get $5 back. Inserts were 7/3 and this coming Sunday. Should work on shelf/knockdown prices, then pay sale/knockdown price minus any coupons. What’s really disappointing is that this time, it’s all the much larger sized items, and some things–like Pampers & Olay, aren’t even discounted at all. But if you like their items and need them, it’s worth a glance. After all the $5 back instantly is giving you 25% savings, and then you can still use coupons. If I see any very cheaps or frees, I’ll do a separate post.
