Several shoppers are reporting on this HCW thread that for the 15/30 deal at Acme, that regular shelf prices are counting toward the total. I have not found this to be the case, but I may try again later in the week. On the thread you’ll see which products are working and which aren’t.
Slow week coming up
On Wednesdays I get my weekly ads in the mailbox for the following week. Overall looks like a slow week, but I like slow weeks once in a while, to take a break.
The Giant ad is a bust, imo, not going there.
Walgreen’s–don’t see anything that warrants a special trip. Celestial Seasonings tea is free with recent mfr coupon and wags coupon. But for some reason I only have one mfr coupon and I went thru all my inserts. Schick Quattro razors are also a good deal if you have any bogo coupons left and combine it with monthly booklet coupon. But I’m not making a special trip for razors.
Kmart–I need a break. I did two trips this weeks. Yesterday I got about $50 worth of stuff for $7 so I was pleased. More of the same-Vaseline intensive care lotion, dove hair care, Glade, some candy for Friday (on sale 3 for $5, use the $1 off 3 coupon to make them 3 for $3), had a Capri Sun catalina from Acme for $1 so my capri sun was $0.50.
CVS–The November monthly deals start and there is a Pampers deal. I’d like to get some Pampers but not sure I have enough ECBs. Have to work on this one. Other than the Pampers, nothing warrants a special trip, imo.
Acme-check out the back page of the ad. There’s a combination deal of General Mills products and Unilever–spend $30 get $15 back. This deal I’ll probably do as part of my weekly shopping trip. There are dozens of items included, and I figure that I can spend $30, then with coupons get my total down to about $17 or $18, and get $15 back. I’m pretty sure there are coupons out there for just about every item listed, so compare your coupons against the list. I’m hoping that this catalina will roll, so I’ll do a transaction, then use my $15 cat to turn around and do it again and hopefully get another one. Don’t forget to go to eatbetteramerica and get any GM printables you may need.
Progresso Soup-$0.50 a can!
Progresso Soups are on sale at Acme for 10 for $10. Use this link and print your $1 and $2 coupons. Buy 10 cans, use two of the $2 coupons, and 1 of the $1 coupons, pay only $5 for 10 cans. Or just get 12 cans, use all 4 of your coupons (lets you print 2 of each) and pay $6, still only $0.50 a can. I like to take this for lunches sometimes, or we add some free refrigerator rolls for a quick weeknight dinner.
Cheap & Easy Chicken Chili
Ok, if you’ve been paying attention and getting the good deals I’ve been posting, here’s a good recipe that you should be able to make with what you have on hand. Looking at the list of ingredients, I know I paid $1.39 for the chicken, everything else was just about free or free. So this is a good, fast, low fat, high protein meal for under $2.
1.5 lb of chicken breast, chopped into bite size pieces (I paid 1.39/lb)
1 can of cream of chicken soup (maybe 0.50)
1 packet of taco seasoning mix (free at Walmart or 0.09 at Acme)
2 large cans of black beans, drained (free during Wild Harvest sale at Acme)
1 small can of chicken broth or 1 c water (maybe 0.50 or free)
Mix all that together and put in crockpot on low for appx 4-6 hours. Serve with either cheese, chopped jalapenos or tortilla chips.
