Economic Crisis

Seeing as this is a bargain blog, I’d feel silly if I didn’t at least mention the current economic crisis. Is the sky falling? Hell if I know. I’m just a working mom who likes to follow politics, I’m hardly a Harvard economist.

But I will try harder to keep up with this blog and post more bargains. I just haven’t had much time lately but will make more of an effort. The bargains are getting harder to find–manufacturers and retailers are cutting back. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t cheap or free stuff out there, we just have to work harder to find it.

In the meantime, unlike our politicians, let’s work together on this. If you find a deal, post it in the comments. We’ve made it through other lean times and we’ll make it through this too. Just keep those scissors, coupons, circulars and your internet handy–and we’ll all try to keep our spending down.

Speaking of the Avon Grove Sun…….

I really was going to post this anyway. I swear. I am not posting this because I made the front page of yesterday’s paper. I like the AG Sun, I really enjoy the little weekly papers. Let’s face it, our daily “local” paper rarely tells us anything about this end of the county. It’s the little weeklies you need for very local news, and I enjoy it.

Anyway, they are running a special right now. Purchase a 1-year subscription for $28 and you’ll get a free hotel stay for 2-nights. I called and inquired about it, and when they receive your payment, you’ll receive a voucher from a travel company, though I don’t remember who she said it would be. Yes, there will be blackout dates and yes, there will be a list of hotels from which to choose. But c’mon, a year of the paper and 2 hotel night stays, all for $28–that’s a good deal. And I’m very curious at what types of places I’ll be able to go to for $14 a night.

The only thing I don’t like about this deal is that I will no longer have an excuse to walk Kevin down to Avon News each week to go get my AG Sun.

FMI call them at 888-299-3822, as this is a limited time offer.

Plug for a friend-Partylite

I really like the Partylite candles and accessories, and I’m not just saying that because my friend sells it. She can verify that I’ve never actually purchased anything from her, lol. I started buying these when we lived in KC and I like the quality. And although if you go to a Partylite party, you may find items on special or you’ll get free stuff if you host a party–but it rarely goes on sale.

This weekend she is clearing out some inventory at 50% off and you can see the new holiday merchandise. If you’re interested, please contact her through her website.
