Rock and Learn: Review and Giveaway

I received a complimentary copy of Rock and Learn: Letter Sounds DVD to review. It couldn’t have been better timing.  We are a homeschooling family and I have been frustrated with my first grader’s inability to say some of his letters properly. I don’t have someone else to teach him. It’s ME and my husband.  It has been an ongoing battle, and while we have made progress, it has been a struggle and some sounds just weren’t clicking. I had seriously been to the point of checking into getting a speech therapist but just couldn’t find a spot in our budget.   Because he says them wrong, our 4 year old  picked up his habits and says them wrong PLUS a few other letters. No big deal at her age I guess because she will eventually get it. However, I thought he would too and he just hasn’t.  Let me say though that this is good for any preschooler/early school age child.  You don’t need to homeschool to get a good value out of the product.

The kids have listened to/watched this DVD 4 times now over the last 2 weeks. My son(6) isn’t saying the sounds perfectly yet  but the DVD is a perfect range for him. Not only do they go through the alphabet and show him how to form the letter with his mouth, they also have letter sound quizzes, name that letter, sounding out and reading words, spelling, common sight words, and blends. These are things he is learning! It is perfect for both of us because it  reinforces what his curriculum is teaching him without him feeling like he is “in school” and I don’t get as frustrated anymore.

My 4 year old has improved her sounds by at least 50% already. Her l’s and d’s have gotten so much better. Plus, she is learning the foundations of words, all while she plays with her “babies” and listens to it play.  Who knows, maybe by kindergarten she will already know her sounds and be putting together words. That would be awesome!

Rock and Learn has so many more educational products. From early childhood – Learning about animals, letters, colors, and shapes to school age – math, language arts, science and social studies, there is something for everyone. Whether you home school or want to reinforce what your kids are learning in school, these products are for everyone with kids.  You can order these  on DVD or cds with books.

So, on to the best part.  Besides the fact that you can buy this DVD for ONLY $19.99, Rock and Learn has graciously offered a 25% discount off your entire purchase to you, our readers.  You can order here with coupon code JQ7711.  PLUS, they are offering one of our readers your choice of DVD or CD.

Here is a really fun idea for the holidays, and I am very happy that I have this giveaway for you! The website is called I Caught Santa, and it’s very easy to use. You take a picture of your living room, family room–any place in and around your home, really. Upload it to the site, and “Add a Santa.” There are many to choose from and they are all very realistic. That’s it! Now you have a photo to share with your kids, friends, family, anyone. You can get prints, upload it to Facebook or Twitter, anything really. Lots of fun! I almost wish that my kids were old enough to be in the sort-of doubting stage, because I bet this will blow their minds if they are!

I have *5* free codes to give away to you, my readers. That’s right–5 lucky winners will each get to make their own “I Caught Santa” photos, free of charge!

The entry form is below. Please be patient–Rafflecopter just went through some major changes within the past week, so there may be bugs. The good news is: Once you log in to Rafflecopter now, you shouldn’t have to log in again–on any other site or blog! It will remember you. That makes it so easy. Leave me a comment if there is a problem and I’ll see what I can do. Contest ends at midnight on 12/21/11 and I will pick the winners on 12/22. I will use email that you used to enter the contest and you have 36 hours to respond or I will choose other winners. I want everyone to have these codes by 12/24 so that you can surprise your kids on Christmas morning!  Please note the different point values on the entries. None of them are mandatory, so only do the entry options you want to do.
