~Win a tube of Elite Serum~$90 value~and it works! Ends April 1

My grandmother used to say “If you tell your age, you’ll tell anything.” And she never would tell people how old she was, she was very protective of that. I never really understood why she was so quirky about that, but she was. I’m not. I don’t mind telling people how old I am. But I will say, now that I’ve surpassed age 40, things do feel differently. I don’t feel old, however I do realize I’m not 25 anymore either. I was a child of the 70s and 80s though, when it was fashionable to be tan, very tan. Oh, if I only had all the stupid money I spent on tanning salons as a teen and young adult! Because even though I still feel very young, my eyes are starting to show small lines and wrinkles. Yuk!

Mind you, this isn’t something I obsess over, but I did have my kids later in life and don’t want to be mistaken for a grandparent in a few years. So when the folks at Elite Serum contacted me and asked if I wanted to do a review & giveaway, I said “Sure!” I always want to try new products but am always unsure of what to get. I do know that plastic surgery is not for me. I don’t care what people say, very little of it looks natural. And, well, it is actual surgery which has inherent risks and is very expensive. Elite Serum is $89, so that was in the back of my mind as a consideration. Because this site is all about smart spending and saving money, and I can’t just be talking about $90 eye creams to you guys, you’d know it was a hoax.

But here’s the thing–eye creams and cosmetics have come a very long way since my grandmother’s day. Now, they actually work! The science and technology have evolved to the point where we do have stuff that works. And Elite Serum works. You can read Elite Serum reviews on actual science websites and it was featured on Dr. Oz. This is what it does:

  • Lift and Firm Skin
  • Diminish Crows Feet
  • Smooth Fine Lines
  • Eliminate Puffiness
  • Reduces dark circles

It’s a clear serum, not greasy at all. And even though it is $90, it is going to last you a very long time. Since it only goes on your eye area, you only need a small drop or two. It absorbs quickly, and I’d swear it is working. The past few weeks have been absolutely crazy for me, both at work and personally. And with my son (he has special needs) I never get any sleep. I don’t think I look old, haggard and like I’m not getting sleep, lol. And in recent weeks, I’ve had several people make reference to me “being in my 30s.” I’ll take it!

From the appearance on Dr. Oz, Elite Serum is running a special right now through March 25. You can visit their site for more details. I would say that it is $89 well spent, if this is an area of concern for you. It has worked for me, I know my eye area looks better and it is much less expensive compared to botox or plastic surgery (both of which have some dangers).
Plus you can try to win Elite Serum. Ends April 1, good luck!

Review and Giveaway: Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil

Last week I came home to a package by my door. The Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil I had been anxiously waiting to review had arrived.  You can click HERE to learn more about what Virgin Coconut Oil is.

I was so excited but too tired from work to make something that day so the next morning I made Scrumptious Pineapple Carrot Muffins.  This is the perfect recipe to try Coconut Oil in since the pineapple already has that tropical taste to it. The coconut oil was so easy to work with. Since it is cooler weather the oil is in a solid form and I needed to melt it, but that was a small extra step that was completely worth my time.  I scooped out the amount I needed and put it in a glass canning jar to melt. It took about 30 seconds in the microwave but you could also melt it on the stove quickly. It has a subtle coconut scent and flavor which played perfectly with the pineapple in the recipe. At the same time it was subtle enough not to bother the coconut “hater” in my house.  We don’t use vegetable oil in our house and I find that sometimes the olive oil flavor changes the flavor of baked goods in a way that isn’t so pleasant. Coconut oil takes care of that problem for me.  Don’t want the coconut flavor? They have a flavor free coconut oil too.

I also love the coconut oil added to rice and I use it in place of shortening  for icing. It made the best melt in your mouth frosting ever! I haven’t used it for pie crust yet but am trying that in the near future. To be honest I even used a little on my hands to help moisturize them-it made them so soft.  Tropical Traditions also has many more suggestions for ways to use their product. Plus, with your first purchase through any of my links you will receive a free copy of their book Virgin Coconut Oil, which includes recipes and benefits of coconut oil.
