Review and Sweepstakes: Dean’s Dairy

I had the opportunity to review Dean’s Dairy products and I took it. I mean, they were going to send me free products to try. I would be crazy to pass up the offer to help my grocery budget out a little.

When I received my packet with the free product coupons I went to the Dean’s Dairy website immediately. The first thing I saw made me kind of laugh. I knew my friend would be totally jealous of me since she uses TruMoo milk pretty much every single day for her kids. Go figure!  I may or may not have said something to her about it.

I did not know TruMoo was Dean’s. Nor did I know Lehigh Valley is Dean’s. I have used Lehigh Valley cream and half  n half in the past and been happy with it. We decided to give TruMoo a try. I am really picky about my chocolate milk. Those “famous” store brands just don’t cut it for me since they taste like water with chocolate added – lots of chocolate to mask the water, you know?

TruMoo is good. It isn’t as creamy as full fat obviously but with 1% milk it is still surprisingly rich.  The chocolate flavor is just right and my kids LOVED their special treat since I don’t usually splurge on chocolate milk.

I generally shop at a farm that pasteurizes their own milk to sell because I know where it comes from. I actually can see the cows in the pasture that produce my milk. I love that.  What I learned about Dean’s makes me much more comfortable pulling their milk off the grocery store shelf.  Dean’s Dairy has a “Five Point Purity Checklist”.

1)Their farmers pledge not to use artificial growth hormones. While no significant difference has been shown in milk from cows treated with the artificial growth hormone rbsT and non treated cows, I still feel more comfortable with milk that is rbST free.

2) The cows are fed a nutritious diet.

3) Dean’s rejects any milk that contains commonly used antibiotics. (Another thing I am glad to skip.)

4) They test for quality at every key step, ensuring they maintain quality from start to finish.

5) The milk is cold shipped from the dairy to the store within hours. (Have you wondered just how long it has been from the time your milk was produced to the time you grab it off the cooler shelf?)

Have a winning Easter holiday weekend~check out all these giveaways!

Here we are at the start of a holiday weekend. I would expect that many bloggers, myself included, will be busy with family and friends, and not putting up too many new blog posts. But, as a blog reader and Facebook enthusiast, I understand when there is down time, you go check your online stuff……..and it’s boring when there is nothing going on. What better time to catch up on entering some giveaways!

So here you have it, a bunch of fun giveaways all in one spot. Bloggers and small businesses, I put this up every Thursday evening. Enter as many links as you have giveaways. All I ask in return is a gesture in kind–either a tweet, a Facebook shout out, a link back, a blog comment, or post this linky in a blogger group you’re in, something like that, your choice.

Over the Moon sipper cup giveaway, ends April 9

My entire family just loves chocolate milk. We’re huge milk drinkers in this house. So often at the grocery store I hear “What are you going to do with all that milk?” or “You must have a huge family.” Nope, just four of us, and we like milk. We probably go through 4-5 gallons a week, two of those are usually chocolate. If you remember my earlier post on the Swiss teas, I did say that there aren’t too many beverages that I drink, but milk is one of them. So of course I jumped at the chance to review Over the Moon and host a giveaway. I love when I get an offer to help promote a product that I already love.

Some parents may crinkle their noses at the thought of kids drinking chocolate milk regularly, but not me. Over the Moon is fat free, doesn’t have any HFCS, it has lots of protein, Vitamin D and calcium. And it tastes good! It has a rich chocolaty flavor that is rich and creamy–it’s not thin like regular skim milk.

Right now, you can check out the button on my side bar and grab yourself a printable coupon for Over the Moon. Plus, we are hosting a giveaway! Three lucky readers will each win an Over the Moon sipper cup. This cup is perfect for kids who are “too big” for those babyish sippy cups, but let’s face it, not ready to have a cup without a lid. Or, use it yourself if you are clumsy like me.

Enter below and good luck!

Gorton’s Fish: Review and Giveaway

I had the opportunity to review Gorton’s Fish this week and offer a FREE coupon giveaway for THREE of our lucky fans. They also have their Fisherman’s Friday Sweepstakes going on right now. Make sure you enter for your chance to win-our giveaway AND the sweepstakes(click the banner for the sweepstakes)!

I was so excited to get to offer this giveaway to you. Who doesn’t like coupons that help make the grocery bill a little smaller? Plus, Gorton’s is the only frozen fish we use. We generally use their fish sticks or battered fish portions on a busy night but did you know they have so much more? From fish sticks and battered portions to salmon and shrimp, they have battered, grilled and gluten free options.  Their newest product is called “Skillet Crisp“.  They take tilapia and bread it in a classic or garlic and herb seasoning. You don’t have to deal with the messy egg dip and batter. All you need to do is pull it from the freezer and fry it – fish and chips in no time.  Of course, now I want fish and chips.

I also like that Gorton’s is committed to using good sustainability practices. While bringing fish to your table they are conscious of the impact they have on the environment and their goal is to  preserve our natural resources while bringing good food to your table.

This sounds good for dinner since I have some freshly made pasta in my fridge but no thoughts of what meat to pair with it.

So, on to the giveaway! THREE winners will receive 2  FREE coupons for Gorton’s Frozen Food – any frozen food but why don’t you try something new, like their super easy Skillet Crisps?
