My Wednesday morning outing-foiled again, but plans inside

This is the second Wednesday in a row that we’ve had ice or snow and school delays and cancellations. Normally I have Wednesday morning, from 8-9:30, all to myself! And I go out and do some deals.

This week I wanted to go to Rite Aid. They have a deal on Nature Made for UPs, plus there is the mail-in rebate. I never did get to Acme to use my $5 IPs with the bogo sale.  Don’t forget to do the Video Values so that you can get more coupons. Yes, it’s a pain sometimes, but I usually just open it up on my laptop while I’m paying bills or clipping coupons, and when one is over I just click the next. Or, I was just going to see if they have any more of the Physician’s Formula makeup left, the ones with the “Try Me Free” peelies on them. I was just going to pay for it with my UPs, send it the rebate, thus converting my UPs back to cash, and call it a day. I wanted to get into doing Rite Aid but just don’t have time to worry about another store’s tender and keeping it rolling. Don’t worry, I’ll still post the deals.

I also got a $5/25 in my email from Walgreen’s, plus I have $14 in Register Rewards. So out of a $25 purchase, I have $19 of it already. I can either just pay $6 for $19 worth of stuff, or find some deals with coupons to eat up the gap. Huggies has an RR deal this week I think, so I’d probably do that.

And, in the Safeway booklet, there are $1/1s for Chex Mix, and they are on sale this week for $0.99, so free! Use the Walgreen’s store coupon in the booklet, found at front of store.

I also had wanted to get to CVS and Acme. CVS has the Coke deal, and I like to have at least some soda on hand in case we have people over. Plus the free Crest deal. The Coke deal appears to be limit 4.

Acme-I wanted to do one Quaker deal, since I scored a $10 gift card last weekend and I have a few $1/1s for Quaker. My husband and I loathe the new oatmeal, but the kids like it.

Sigh, that is an awfully big plan, considering I probably won’t leave the house today.

Home Depot grilling set offer (or check Acme’s clearance)

I can’t even see my grill right now, it’s got several inches of snow on it. But if you’re daydreaming about warmer days and outdoor BBQs, check out this Facebook offer from the Home Depot. It’s a nice grilling set for just $5 and that includes shipping.

Great deal if you need the items. If you don’t need them, I’ve always had terrific luck finding these items on clearance at Acme. In fact, I think the Avondale Acme still has some on their clearance shelves (back by meat dept) for less than $1 per item.

$10 CVS gift certificate for $5

It’s a deal only available through Hip2Save, thanks!

a quick reminder of the Walgreens rules

For those of you who are new here and looking at my Walgreens picture & thinking “I want to do that,” here is a quick reminder of the rules at Walgreens.

You may use a store coupon AND a manufacturer’s coupon per item. Like the Dixie items has a store coupon out right now (booklets at front of store) and there are mfr coupons out right now.

You may use both of the above, and still earn Register Rewards on those items.

Bogo offers, and buy one, get one 50% offers will work on clearance items.

Clearance items will also generate Register Rewards, if that brand is in a Register Rewards promo that week.

Walgreen’s will only accept ONE MFR COUPON PER ITEM. And this is where it may get confusing because Register Rewards count as manufacturer’s coupons. So if you have two items, and you are using a mfr coupon for both, then you want to use an RR to pay for it, you need to find a filler item. Right now they have these little erasers for $0.10. Use that.

Register Rewards do not roll if it is the same manufacturer. If you get the $7 Almay RR, you can use it on another Almay purchase, but you will not earn another RR. Use it on another RR offer, then use that RR on Almay.

Only one LIKE RR deal per transaction. If you buy 4 Almay items, you will only get one $7 RR. You have to split it into two transactions to get two $7 RRs. You can stack deals, such as purchaing the Almay and the Pantene in one transaction, and you will get one RR per manufacturer.

Whew! Once you get the hang of it, it’s not that hard, really. But it is sort of a reminder to me why I said I wasn’t going to Walgreens anymore! Luckily mine has nice cashiers who don’t mind if I stand there and do 4 or 5 transactions back to back. Of course if a line starts to form, I step to the side and let people go ahead of me.

The other nice thing about Walgreens is that they offer printable coupons on their website. So you can do matchups at home with your mfr coupons, without running to the store to pick up a booklet.
