Acme-January 9-15

Looks like a slow week, but that’s ok after last week. A few things jump out at me.

Ocean Spray-Buy 2 Ruby Red juices, get a free 5lb bag of grapefruit with coupon found in center of ad. Some papers are supposed to have an Ocean Spray coupon to go along with this deal, my Philly Inqy does not. Perhaps on Monday when I pick up my other inserts (from other area papers) it will be in there. Otherwise it’s $4 for two 64 oz bottles of juice and a 5lb bag of grapefruit. Not bad, but another dollar or more off is always nice too.

Dannon yogurt-on sale for 10 for $4. There are mfr coupons out for $1 off 10, so now you’re down to $3. Lately, this yogurt has been showing up on my Avenu for $0.50 off 2, limit 4, so that would be another dollar off. $2 for 10 yogurts, or $0.20 each–I think that’s great. Let’s hope it keeps showing up on your Avenu and that it has long exp dates.

Tastykakes are $2.50, not great but they haven’t been on sale for a while.

Conagra deal-page 3 of the ad lists a Conagra deal, another buy $xx get $x. I know that there are corresponding mfr coupons for just about all of the items listed, but I have not heard if shelf prices are working or not.

Quaker-there’s a Quaker deal but it includes a rebate. Five oatmeals for $12, then get a MIR for $5, making it five for $7. Use this IP for $1 off one, should let you print at least two. Plus there are $1.35 off 2 coupons out there, so you should be able to get your actual cost pretty far down.
Not in the mood for MIRs? Go to wags today while it’s still on sale for $1.99 and get yours for $0.99.

If, for some reason you need GM cereals, there’s a deal buy 4 for $10, get a free $4.50 catalina good for milk. Lots of GM coupons out there plus printables.

Progresso soups are 10 for 10 and there are IPs for $1.10 off two, so you pay $0.90 for 2.

All bacon is bogo and I find that it freezes well, so if previously your favorite brand hasn’t been on sale, now’s the time.

Kellogg’s has a deal, four boxes for $7, must buy 4. Lots of Kellogg’s coupons out there plus IPs. You should be able to get your total down to four for $3 or $4. Not a bad deal if you’re sick of GM cereal.

SC Johnson-Buy 5 of the products listed and get an add’l dollar off. Lots of coupons to go with this. It has also been reported that the Ziploc holiday food containers are clearanced. They are pretty cheap after coupons, I have not been able to confirm if they work with this deal. Who cares what color container your leftovers are in, right?

Ok, maybe not such a slow week after all. Doesn’t look like I’ll be able to walk out with $122 worth of stuff for $6, but if you need the basics and have cats to spend, there are still good deals to be had.

Week at Acme ends with a bang!

I wasn’t going to go, after what my friends Katy and Chris had said, I wasn’t going to try. Then I saw a deal around 3:00. One of tomorrow’s deals is working today. Fiber One cereal, Honey variety-buy 4 and it spits out a free gallon of milk catalina, value $4.50. The Fiber One also has a shelf price of 4.99, sale price of 2.00, works in the 15/30 deal, and I had several $1.10 off one coupons. My inner miser couldn’t resist–I love double-dip deals. Plus coupons, plus $$ back…..I just had to go.

I ended up doing 3 transactions. I wanted to get 8 boxes of Fiber One, 7 would cover my $30 and give me cats for milk and the $15, but the 8th one, at $0.90 cost, would hopefully generate another milk cat. No luck–Acme only had 5 boxes, so I got 4 and yet more Cheerios. Anyway, after three transactions, here are my totals.

4 boxes of Gogurt
4 of the DHA Yoplait Kids yogurt
3 packs of Pampers
4 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios
4 boxes of the Fiber One Honey Cereal
1 gallon of skim milk
2 half gals of Tropicana Pure Premium
4 bags of mini mint Three Musketeers

Before coupons & catalinas:
$122.55

After sales, coupons, catalinas, my final cash oop:
$6.40

And I still have a $5 baby catalina and three more $5 catalinas from the promo.

The Three Musketeers are on clearance for $0.75 a bag. Use your $1 off 2 coupon from this past Sunday’s paper, and you pay $0.25 a bag. I’ve never tried them but I will take them to school and use them as small incentive prizes when we review for exams and tests.

The milk catalina, it scans at full value of $4.50. I got overage, as my gallon of milk was only $3.37.

The moms on HCW tell me that the Gogurt freezes just fine, let’s hope so because that’s where it is. And at the price of free, I had to try it. The other yogurts luckily have February exp dates, so we’re good for a while.

I’m sooooooo tempted to go back this evening and do some more, it’s so addicting. But I’m already in my jammies and am ready for bed. Good Night.

Tomorrow brings us a Quaker and Ocean Spray deal, so there will be plenty to do.

Last day of Acme deal

Today’s the last day of the Acme deal. I think I will stop in after work and hopefully do a few more transactions. I’m going to quote one of my hcw friends from yesterday:

Bad news, I just got back from Acme in Middlesex NJ. I did a double order, and when my total was only $37 on sale prices, the cashier tore up my second set of catalinas. I went all the way up to the store manager, who said that they “know” the machine is calculating on regular prices, and they think it should be on sale prices, so they are doing their own calculation and tearing up those that “misprint”. They have “called it in to Catalina”.

Ugh. First of all, Katy, if you’re reading this, my hubby thinks you should have called the police on them for stealing your coupons. Or contact an attorney.

But seriously, I could totally see the Avondale Acme trying to do this to me. But I’m going to give it a go anyway. Hopefully I’ll luck out with some decent cashiers.

Another problem, posted by my friend Chris:
I give up…. I went to Acme again this evening – bought 4 Dasani waters & some other stuff I needed…. went to pay with cats & was told that Dasani is Coke product but that P&G owns the Coca Cola company & couldnt use the cats on it.
I told them about the go-round with customer service yesterday, and that store mgr “Al” said it was fine. I will be calling CS and Al in the morning.
I have a headache – I will play by the rules, but just gimme the right rules!!!!!!!

This is not the first time she’s had this problem–her Acme is trying to tell her that Coke & GM products are P&G, which they are not.

So if you’re going to try this one more time today, good luck and buyer beware!

CVS January deals

The weekly deals are pretty lame for this week and next, but the monthly deals are ok. Throat coolers are 4.99 and you get 4.99 back in ECBs. Use this coupon to get some bogo, so you get 2, pay for 1, get ECBs for 2. A nice way to increase your ECBs. Limit is 5. All I ask is that if you really aren’t going to use these, don’t have kids, only getting them to increase your ECBs–only get 4 boxes. Numbers 5 & 6 if you get them, are not moneymakers, just free. So if you don’t need them, leave them there for another CVS shopper to get a deal. Apparently these are pretty hard to find, stores are not stocked well, so we’ll all be lucky if we get some. I got some at Landenberg, but Kennett was out.

There’s also a Naso Drip nose something that is free after ECBs and there is a $2 printable for it so that can be a way to increase your ECBs by $2 as well. Limit 2, and don’t forget to hang on to your receipt and look inside the box for a mail in rebate. It’s fun to actually get money back for items you never paid for.

There’s also a weight loss gum that is 3.99 with 3.99 back. This same promo ran last year and I wanted to get it to roll over my ECBs–I was never able to find it. Limit 2.

This week–J&J Buy $20 get $10 back. This promo includes lots and lots of items–check sales flyer for details. I used it to get Children’s Tylenol and Motrin, which really comes in handy for teething. And there are $2.50 off 2 coupons for those items in Sunday’s paper. A good deal if you need the stuff. I think Stayfree/Carefree are also in the deal and there are bogo coupons from Sunday’s paper. It’s Limit 1 deal, so I did the kids’ pain relief–I have so many feminine products stockpiled–and I’ve been either pregnant or breastfeeding for much of 2005, 2006 and 2008, so they don’t get used! Not like I need any more right now.

Here is a list of items included–
Zyrtec $13
Sudafed $7
Mylanta $6
Pepcid $15
Motrin $9
Benadryl-D $5
Tylenol Cold $6
Infant Tylenol or Motrin $6
