Check your Acme Avenu!

The Acme Avenu deals have been so poor lately I haven’t looked at mine in weeks. But thanks to a friend for pointing me in that direction. The Mrs. Smith’s pies this week are $3.99 and you get a free Breyer’s Ice Cream when you buy one. I got $1.50 off Breyer’s on my Avenu so I’ll pay about $2.50 for both. Not a bad price. Yeah, I just don’t have time to bake pies, so there you go.

I also got $2.50 off a PF Chang’s frozen meal and I know I have $2 insert coupons for these. They run about $10, so I’ll take it for about half price. I’ve tried both the chicken and broccoli and beef and broccoli. They’re ok. The good thing is that they are super easy to make and they taste ok. When I have a busy weekday evening, it’s a quick meal for $6, so I’ll take it. Still cheaper than takeout.

I also got $2 off any Almay product and I’m product loyal to eye-makeup remover pads and it’s hard to find deals for them. I don’t know what the price is for Crest right now, but I got $1 off and I know there are always $1 off coupons in the P&G inserts.

I loathe Black Friday

Black Friday is two weeks from tomorrow. I loathe this day. I worked in retail for so many years, at Macy’s, did the Hickory Farms thing over the holidays in college, managed stores for both LLBean and QVC…….did enough in retail to loathe that day. I hate it.

Once I left retail I vowed I would never again go out on Black Friday. For years I had to be up at 4 am to be at the store by 5 or 6……now my friends at QVC are working at midnight on Thanksgiving Eve which is ridiculous. And not their decision, it’s the mall’s decision.

So you won’t find any breaking news here on this blog for Black Friday deals. Other sites like to out-do each other. In the bargain blog world, it’s like being a competitive investigative reporter, to see who can break the news first. Meh, I couldn’t care less about who breaks the news first. I guarantee you it’s not going to be me.

And stupid Walmart, they’ve even threatened my friends at another site, that if they leak Walmart’s Black Friday deals, they’ll pull their advertising. One more reason to not shop there, as if you needed another.

But here are some sites that will have some of the deals listed:

Have fun! I’ll be sleeping in!

Be on lookout for this booklet, and others

A friend and couponer alerted me to a coupon booklet available at Genuardi’s. In it, supposedly there are coupons for Ore Ida items that everyone is using at Giant this week to score free stuff. I dropped off baby at daycare and quickly headed out to Genuardi’s on a mission for the booklets. I can always use free/cheap tater tots!

I found a booklet, this one:

And figured I was done. I was going to go home, clip, figure out the deal and go either later today or tomorrow.  Wrong booklet! But it’s the only one I could find (Kennett store). It’s still a good find, lots of good coupons and they don’t expire until 12/31. There’s a good $0.75/1 Orville Redenbacher, which means if Acme runs another deal, should be a huge moneymaker on that. $1/1 Bisquick with no size restrictions, means free Bisquick and it includes the pancake mix bottles. Decent stuff, so worth picking up if you see them.

But if you do find the one with the Ore Ida coupons, will you tell me where you found it?

Walmart-Olay/Secret

Last weekend, there was a coupon in the Procter & Gamble insert for $5 off Olay body wash when you buy Secret deodorant. I have seen on several boards that it has been working on trial sizes which are $0.97 each, resulting in $3 overage with each coupon you use. Remember the new wording on P&G coupons is 4 per visit, but that would mean $12 in overage. I wouldn’t expect it to be without hassle though, I’d assume that it’s going to beep and that cashiers are going to look at you cross-eyed and such. But, worth a shot if you’re going there anyway. And don’t forget to pick up your free Gain. There were $1 coupons in again and it’s only $0.97.
