random deals I came across

A few things I saw while out today or read online:

Weis: claims they are freezing prices, not sure for how long or if this is just a gimmick, but can’t hurt to keep your eye on their ads for deals.

Acme: a few conagra items (spaghettios, manwich) are 0.80 each when you buy ten. If you have the coupons that came in the mail or from an All You, could mean cheap spaghettios. Luckily my kids’ school/daycare lets me send lunches that need heating, so I often send these in winter. While you’re there, check for clearance meat/seafood post holiday, good time to get some things for the freezer. Check your coupon binder for the Ronzoni Garden Pasta coupon. It’s on sale for $1 so you’ll get $0.50 overage with the coupon.

Superfresh: They keep running pasta deals for $0.59-$0.77 a box. That’s a stock up price for me!

Swiss Miss: this hot cocoa is being sold for about a buck just about everywhere. There’s a $2 printable coupon on redplum, so free hot cocoa with possible overage. I know it’s $1 at both Walmart and Acme.

Walmart: I found fantastic clearance deals there today. Lots of small, gifty type things for next xmas for $0.25. Some decorations, gift wrap. I spent $16 and got 29 things. Tissue paper and gift wrap to be donated too. I also found a rack of tie-dye t-shirts for kids for $1. I love my little boys in tie-dye, so I got one.

Happy bargaining!

$2 Olay coupon

In the last P&G insert (12/26) there was a $2 Olay body wash/soap coupon. I found a similar coupon in some of the P&G gift sets I purchased recently and it’s in some home mailers and other P&G products that include coupons. So, what to do with it?

Dollar General has the body was on sale for $2 currently, so, free!

Or, in some cases, you can use it to purchase the Olay bar soap to get it for free or with overage. There are small packages of Olay soap at Walmart, Kmart and Target for less than $2. As far as receiving overage, or receiving overage without hassle from a cashier, well that’s ‘your mileage may vary.’

I think I’m just going to use mine at Dollar General and include it on one of my Wednesday morning runs this month.

And, if you have several coupons or are purchasing other P&G items, don’t forget this rebate. Must be postmarked by 1/14/11–but I’ve found P&G to be generous when it comes to purchase dates and issuing rebates. Can’t hurt to try, good luck!

Excedrin at CVS

The week beginning 1/2, CVS is running a promo on Excedrin. Spend $20, get $10 Extra Bucks back. If you’ve ordered the free Excedrin coupons in the mail, this is probably a good time to use them. Unfortunately if you didn’t order them when I posted it, the offers are no longer available. I hope mine get here in time!

Remember that the $20 threshhold is based on sale price, but it’s before coupons. I have $12 in Extra Bucks to spend, so I’m hoping to use my coupons, the Extra Bucks and get my Extra Bucks back. Free Excedrin!

Proctor & Gamble gift sets

It’s that time of the year again…..time when couponers on chat boards everywhere talk about their free or almost free gift sets that they got at Walmart. And after several years of being disappointed, I am not even trying. Here’s how it usually works:

Day after Xmas, Walmart marks down their gift sets, including all the P&G ones, 50% off–and they’re usually only $8-$10 to begin with. This would be Fusion, Olay, Herbal Essences, etc. There are always corresponding coupons–either $4 off Fusion, $2-$5 off Olay…..then you purchase it really cheap and peruse the web for rebates.

For some reason, every time I check them at the Kennett Walmart, they have NEVER been marked down. Ever. And I’ve checked the past 3 or 4 years. But if you’re out doing returns or post-holiday shopping, you may want to check it out.
